Shots off target and shot line
(targeted at EA)
so here I am trying to play career mode for the pro pass and the game is so broken that most of my shots are 10's of yards off target and the shot line is straight most of the ti...

When hit a golf club IRL it goes where and how you hit it
Mother Nature doesn’t suddenly decide it should go somewhere different as you hit a shot
If I hit a club exactly the same IRL with exactly the same tempo and exactly same power (which is impossible cos guess what it’s a video game) it goes where I aim
By all means you want MORE RNG put it in simulation and you can have the game decide where it should land. Don’t add it to Arcade, Pro or Tour mode- @agentputt I'm just stating when I played golf only as an amature and only off of an 11 handicap I've hit some teriffic shots and been punished by mother nature. I'vealso hit many bad shots that should get punished and have had a lucky bounce that's turned it into a teriffic shot.
I don't know how easy the software is to create these games, but to do different RNG per mode I expect would take a lot more work than a simple update

But my point is if you make a good shot it goes where you aim it (even IRL). What happens after it lands, I don't expect to be in my control.
IRL when i hit a good shot, it doesn't always go in the direction i thought it would go, usually because the angle of the ball strike is slightly off and maybe because I haven't found the sweet spot on my strike, or the wind changes the trajectory. Pro golfers would agree that when they strike a ball it will go very near to where they are aiming rather than exactly where they are aiming, and as you say they have no control of what happened when the ball lands, but usually they have a good idea of what happens when it lands, thats why they use a variety of shot types and techniques to get the ball to land and run to where they hope it will end up, they don't always get it right

Then I would argue you didn't hit a good shot IRL. If the angle of your strike is off or if you didn't hit the sweey spot, was it a good shot? As for the wind, I agree, it could play some role in the flight the of the ball. But this game has large amounts of RNG in calm conditions.
And I agree on 2K if I am plsying a course I am familiar with I know what to expect from the terrain. But this has nothing to do with EA and their RNG model.
