Some issues that I would like to see corrected
While the latest patch addressed some issues, some are still there and are annoying.
Excessive backspin: The backspin applied to short irons is way too excessive and unrealistic. I've hit shots that land anywhere from right next to the hole to 3 or 4 yards beyond the hole, only to see the shot land and immediately go into reverse and roll up to 20 yards because of backspin. I've seen balls land right near the back edge of some greens and actually roll off the front of the greens. That is ridiculous. I tried using the backspin control on some shots but it does not work. And, applying backspin or taking it off AFTER you hit the shot is very much unrealistic, because in golf the only time you can increase or decrease the backspin is when you swing the club and hit the ball. Maybe to put on or take off backspin, there should be an option to either have a steep down-swing to get more spin, or a more flatter swing to decrease it. I've hit low shots in this game to take off backspin only to see it actually have more backspin instead of checking and either stopping or slowing the ball down. Even on firm greens that are fast, the backspin is unrealistic and excessive. And then there is the "Finesse" shot, which says it is a shot with less spin, but I get excessive backspin from that as well, so I do not use it.
Also, why should we pay a lot of Reward Points to get name brand gear when it doesn't actually affect the shots we make? It's only for display uses and does nothing to change the shots. IMO, those should be relatively cheap to obtain, since they do nothing. But, there is one piece of equipment that should be offered that can change the shots: The shaft. The golf shaft is the most important part of the golf club. Have the wrong flex club for your swing and disaster awaits you. People with fast swings need a stiffer shaft. Slower swings need a more flexible one. You have a challenge using a trackman, so incorporate a system in the game where you can match your desired swing speed to a shaft for better results. Just saying. Club fitting is an integral part of the game now.
Putting: I'd like to see the putting grid gone. Maybe set up a system with a caddy book. Have a practice round at a course that doesn't give you experience points, but to get used to the features of the course and read the greens to put in the caddy book. When on the green, refer to the caddy book that shows the breaks you have read during the practice round and in the rounds during the tournaments. On the map in the caddy book, show the breaks by the characters like this: >>> <<< pointing in the direction of the break, and putting them closer together means a hard break and farther away a smaller break. Also, instead of having just 'average', 'slow', 'fast', or 'tournament' settings for the greens, have a Stimp Meter reading and describe what the Stimp Meter actually is and how to interpret the readings. Also, how about making the grain direction factor in putting? That is another thing that could be included in your Caddy book.
Another course I would love to see brought back is Oakmont. While Oak hill is a nice addition, I think Oakmont should also be brought back. Oakmont is the oldest top ranked Country Club in the U.S. It is designated as an historical landmark. It hosted the U.S. Open 9 times and will host it again in 2025. I believe it was considered Arnold Palmer's home course, since he was from not too far away from there.
