Suggestion: Have Options for All Gameplay Changes Post Launch
I have seen many posts complaining about ball physics, putting, and game fundamentals. Even though I have moved on from current PGA Tour, I want to make a suggestion for future iterations that would probably limit or almost eliminate complaints. I am talking about adding options to turn on/off all changes on gameplay post-lauch. I am mentioning this because gamers, especially amateur/arcade gamers, have spent time to acclimate to get better playing the game. Forcing gameplay changes post-launch moves the goal posts and forces gamers to play differently to re-learn the game.
One example is Update 3.0 which added lipouts to prevent the ball from going in pretty much no matter how hard the ball is hit. This update alone has caused havoc in the ball physics such as the ball levitating above the hole. As of now, this issue has not been fixed because it would probably be very difficult to fix the code. For future PGA Tour Iterations, it would be better if gamers have the option to turn on or off this feature like Wax On/Wax Off. Allowing options would minimize complaints in this forum. I have seen post to make rough/hazards more penalizing; here is another case where options should be available to turn on/off.
One example of a game that figured it out was UFC3. In the first 5 patches, the gameplay changed after launch after each patch to add stamina costs. After complaints from amateur gamers, EA added options and sliders to turn off stamina costs. This resulted in fewer complaints from both amateur and advanced gamers. The next iteration of UFC kept the same formula and it worked really well. Hoping EA PGA Tour 25 (would like to be called Nelly Korda PGA Tour 25) would add options to turn off or on changes in gameplay post-launch.
