Suggestion: Have Options for All Gameplay Changes Post Launch

I have seen many posts complaining about ball physics, putting, and game fundamentals. Even though I have moved on from current PGA Tour, I want to make a suggestion for future iterations that would probably limit or almost eliminate complaints. I am talking about adding options to turn on/off all changes on gameplay post-lauch. I am mentioning this because gamers, especially amateur/arcade gamers, have spent time to acclimate to get better playing the game. Forcing gameplay changes post-launch moves the goal posts and forces gamers to play differently to re-learn the game.

One example is Update 3.0 which added lipouts to prevent the ball from going in pretty much no matter how hard the ball is hit. This update alone has caused havoc in the ball physics such as the ball levitating above the hole. As of now, this issue has not been fixed because it would probably be very difficult to fix the code. For future PGA Tour Iterations, it would be better if gamers have the option to turn on or off this feature like Wax On/Wax Off. Allowing options would minimize complaints in this forum. I have seen post to make rough/hazards more penalizing; here is another case where options should be available to turn on/off.

One example of a game that figured it out was UFC3. In the first 5 patches, the gameplay changed after launch after each patch to add stamina costs. After complaints from amateur gamers, EA added options and sliders to turn off stamina costs. This resulted in fewer complaints from both amateur and advanced gamers. The next iteration of UFC kept the same formula and it worked really well. Hoping EA PGA Tour 25 (would like to be called Nelly Korda PGA Tour 25) would add options to turn off or on changes in gameplay post-launch.

  • @PalomaMarvel24 If I understand you correctly, I would like the option to be able to toggle every option available when setting up a private match. Both the gameplay and visual settings too.

The current arrangement for PRIVATE MATCHES is as bad a menu system as I have ever seen in any piece of software.

It only limits me to some poorly balanced presets, or to have my PRIVATE MATCH totally wide open to all settings.

Not to mention rather than having everything on one page with dropdowns to select each parameter I want. I have to scroll through a myriad of predefined selections to find something close to what I might want.

Like everything else it feels like it was designed by someone either with zero expertise or taking the easiest way out. But it is in line with everything else in the game... it is in the game but executed poorly.

But back on point, while I agree this would be awesome. It would only be applicable for PRIVATE MATCHES. They need to rebalance their presets.

When I do play, the only way to lockdown settings in PRIVATE MATCHes is with the presets. So we play on SIM with level 67 base characters. This I can confirm before starting a match. But I hate that the swing meter stays enabled in the game. I wish EA at least allowed us to disable features within the presets that don't benefit you.

I just don't understand EA's software development team. They had decades of golf games to learn from including their own, and this was their best effort.

I have watch every video put out of this game, and the EA staff participating seem genuinely proud of their product and work. I am truly astounded when I see this, so I can only assume everything we are seeing is as designed. That this IS what this game is meant to be.

I think we can all admit the luster has worn off this game months ago. The honeymoon is over and many have divorced this game. You hang in hoping the relationship will improve, that promises made will come to fruition.

The honest truth might be what we are seeing is exacting what we can expect. So we can either except things as they are or find something else.

@ELF014 I absolutely agree about having multiple options for private matches. That would be one nice feature to add to this game. We are one of remaining pollsters when the game first launched. The honeymoon is over and I am enjoying the divorce from current game. I am already playing PGA 2K23, NBA 2K24 and EA FC 24. NHL 24 will join the party this Friday and UFC 5 later this month. I am making as much suggestions so the next iteration can get better.

I would have to agree with you. It seems @PalomaMarvel24 is well entrenched into EA's ecosystem.

For myself this is the only game of interest. Though if anyone could create a realistic tennis game I'm in.

Agree there since those 3 games are still by EA. All three are part of my rotation along with Madden, NBA 2K, WWE 2K, PGA 2K and MLB the Show.

I am in both EA’s and 2K’s ecosystem. Just like to play sports games. Back in the day EA had a tennis game, I have not seen one since.
