Swing Randomness

In Arcade mode they need to greatly reduce randomness or turn it off. IMHO!

Absolutely agree. It would be nice if the is an option in the settings that has Random On/ Random Off. A slider adjusting randomness would even be better. I have stopped playing this game and it is still a hot topic. Just hoping current game and the next iteration can solve this problem.

Turn off Swing randomness at least on Arcade level!

I have played different EA games and I have seen differences in Response Time to help out for Beginners. In UFC 3, the game got harder after update 3.0; many beginners complained to add sliders to make game easier. After 2 updates, the sliders were added and made everyone happy. Currently in NHL 24, the hybrid controls were replaced by total control which is tough for beginners; by next update NHL 24 at end of month, hybrid controls will return.

It is pretty sad that EA PGA Tour has not made any updates to remove RNG for beginners since complaints came after update 3.0. I would still be playing this game if it got addressed in Updates 4.0 or 5.0. There was one pollsters from another post that said that EA FC, UFC and NHL have more people working on issues since those games have done well.

@7AnimalMother Absolutely agree about shots out of rough/sand need to be more difficult. it seems most people in this forum want to overly criticise the game and complain about everything rather than embrace the many positives that the game has to offer

I think the reason the forum is in the state it is... is because there are so few things to embrace and be positive about.

There is a reason why online play is so quiet.

The greater the struggle... the greater the sense of achievement.

There is no way to make this game challenging for many people... and thus there is little enjoyment in playing it.

This game is built to be a money grab (I'm surprised they don't sell gold grills) if people are not satisfied they just leave and not spend more money think about that.

I agree with you... it seems most companies across all ways of life are answering to their shareholders. That they are looking to make as much of a profit as quickly as possible.

Rather than creating something of substance and growing it to maturity to reclaim a maximum result.

I may be reminiscing of fonder days... but HB Studio felt like it was in no hurry to throw an unfinished product out to market. That they cared about what they released, that their reputation meant something. Since being purchased by 2K, and with EA's current release it appears more about getting a product to market to create cashflow... that it doesnt matter the quality of the product. That they could survive off of the reputation of their past releases.

I feel you are right... that these companies have been just making a money grab by throwing something on the market with the lastest year tagged to it. Or some flashy addon content that can be purchased for the price of a coffee.

This was not worth the monies of a AAA title.

I have not played this game other than to test a new patch in months. 2K is not perfect either but it is the best of the worse.

I only hang around hoping that something will change, that a new update will make the game worth playing.

We are 25 years removed from LINKS golf. And with the advancement of technology golf simulations, have arguably gone backwards other than graphically. Where the people 25 years ago designing these games that much smarter and more insightful than those of today?

Maybe they just had more pride about the work they released.

  • What is lost on the people programming this game, and many people here is that you have been brainwashed into their way of thinking.

Leveling up and powerups... ie. Specs. Should make it easier to execute a shot..  NOT having them shouldn't be preventing you from being able to make a good shot.

Regardless of how many skill points or what specs have been assigned... if you execute a shot perfectly the result should reflect that.

Even the poorest beginner can make that rare perfect strike on a ball and hit a good shot. The idea is being able to execute that over and over... it shouldn't be about random chance where skill points and specs increase your chances of winning a lottery.

This where a more skilled players should achieve more consistent results, you shouldn't be punished for not spending time in the game collecting skill points and specs.

They should reward you for playing... but not punishing for not doing so.

It's similar to TW11, as the randomness is getting smaller as you get more skills and better equipment. Difference is instead of getting better equipment as you go on, it's now with specs.  Just a different concept but it's not rocket science either. And just as with TW11, the game is on cruise control when you top up with skills and top equipment, specs in this case. Still this randomness is not a good arcade game, just as TW11 wasn't either.

But if you're a top player and all golf games are easy since the beginning of time, this game is just not for you. For all the marketing, it was just not designed for sim players and never will be. And I don't think people are brainwashed either with the concept of specs, some are just very competitive in tournaments and want every advantage possible. I don't play paid tournaments and for all those who don't, specs are not a big deal. Still the way the store work is very frustrating.
