Tempo effect on shot result

Will tempo be the primary factor in determining the hook or slice in the shot result, or will swing path/plane be the more dominant factor for hook/slice?

  • Still haven't gotten an answer to this question, but I was wondering if anyone has seen anything in the preview material shown over the last month that would shed some light on it?  I recall reading a comment somewhere in one of the Q&A's about how tempo will affect the accuracy of the shot, but didn't expound upon it to suggest how it would affect accuracy.  If it does affect accuracy, I'm hoping it would be in a push/pull sense, instead of hook/slice.  They have made it pretty clear that the swing plane/path will have an effect on the hook/slice, which is as it should be, but I'm wondering if the tempo might somehow leak over into it.

I really think this game needs for the tempo component to have a proportional effect on shot result in a way that resonates with the our intuition, otherwise it's going to have too much of the Rory McIlroy "dial and flick" sense to it I fear.

  • I would imagine the swing path you make with analog would be it based on what I seen. Really hoping simulation mode is like 14 for the realism folks.

@MaouYumisu That would definitely make the most intuitive sense. PGA TOUR 2K23 gets this bass ackwards in my estimation. They have the swing path determine push/pull, and the tempo determining hook/slice. While it's nice to have tempo regulation be a significant contributor to the shot accuracy, it would be far more realistic if it reflected its effect in a manner to that was in step with real life physics.

I'm hoping that EA Sports PGA Tour's swing interface uses tempo as the chief determinant of push/pull. Their videos and Q&A's have convinced me that swing path (they call it swing plane) will be the chief factor in hook/slice.

If you want that level of realism just wait for mouse and keyboard support with True Swing Analysis assuming that does come back. You'll have full control of the swing at all points with that swing feature and mouse. That'll be way more accurate than what you can do with an analog stick.
