I still have Perfect Golf installed and play it now and then. In my opinion it is the best golf game I have played and I go back to the days of Leader Board Golf. RTSM (real time swing - mouse) is indeed "perfect" and unmatched by any swing method, mouse or controller. Unlike other games, there is no feedback after each swing but the feel is so good, you think you know what you did wrong. Sounds like real golf doesn't it?
There are features like 9 different replay cameras to choose from, the option of moving your ball position on the tee box to name two. There is a practice mode where you can play a course with unlimited mulligans and "drop" your ball anywhere you want to practice everything from full swings to putts from that spot. By hitting a hot key you can move anywhere you want on the course and even go inside some buildings. I played one user created course where there was a small church which I went inside to have a look at.
Speaking of user created courses, yes there are over 400 of them. Graphically the courses look more realistic and varied than any user created course in 2K23 because users could create their own objects, buildings and panoramas instead of having being restricted to the ones that come with the game as in 2K23 which is why all the user created courses in 2K23 all have the same basic look and feel. One of my favourite user created courses in PG is Kinloch. The guy who rendered the course created animated fans placed adjacent to greens! One of the earliest user created courses, The Old Warden is still one of the best and there were ads for local businesses on signs throughout the course that you could walk up to and have a look at. A number of the very talented people who created courses for PG were hired by Trackman and now create courses for their simulators.
It is unfortunate that there was never a PG2. However, like the original poster for this thread, I paid $20 for it and logged in close to 2000 hours over 8 years playing solo, multiplayer and tournaments.
