I'd say there is a healthy amount of players for a game that hasn't been on the pc in 15 years and I've haven't felt any dropoff yet. As long as I can get competitive matchups i could care less how many people are playing. Thats all that matters. I'd say there is probably around 1000 people in the daily tourney. I was once ranked 500 and 800.
As best I can judge on PS5 there are ballpark 3,000 participants in the daily arcade tournaments and closer to 2,000 for the pro dailies. I don't do the tour daily much to be as sure there. These numbers aren't a problem in themselves but do point to general participation.
Your experience with online matchmaking seems better than some but glad it's working OK for you.
I don't think there being no recent game in the franchise on PC really makes any difference personally. It's a golf game and other golf games have been available and played on PC. A few may be very loyal to particular series but mostly I'd guess those interested in golf games will judge each new one on its merits.

Everybody I knew, friends and family, left the pc after tw08 and went to consoles. I'm the only one still on the pc. PC Gaming in North America has generally been dead for a decade. Most popular game I know of is Valorant and thats not saying much by old standards. It is what it is, pc can always have a resurgence. Its not like people on consoles are jumping to play online either. Only people I know playing online are my little nieces and nephews playing roblox and minecraft lol. Their generation might push for better online matchmaking in the future if they get into positions of power. We have to move to South Korea or Japan I guess if want real online gaming with competitive public matchups.

@RichACMy guess is that interest in online play will generally be higher on PC than console, thinking in terms of the percentage of players on each platform. One reason being you have to pay extra to play online on console whereas I don't believe you need to on PC? I play on PS5 where I need to have some form of Playstation Plus subscription to do so

They let this game go. Only 390 people playing. 2k has 1186 people playing and that's steam only it has cross play so more like 5000+.. Step up EA or let your game die!

@CkYMaximusIt only prove that 2k player doesn't have job ...
- 3 years ago@Mickstudio1308 That doesn't even make sense. It proves that more people are finding that game compelling to play.
- 3 years ago@packattack04082 Really, you don't understood it was a joke.
- 3 years ago@Mickstudio1308 Oh, I thought you were serious. Either way, there is nothing wrong with constructive criticism. It's how things improve. If EA listens to the fan base they can have a great game that trumps 2K in my opinion. Right now, they need to step it up but I am hopeful they will do that over the coming months.
- 3 years ago@packattack04082 I don't play online so for me this game is 1000x better than 2k but I can understand that some online feature are missing. But to say that in the afternoon of a week day there are more player in 2k than in EA doesn't help anything.

Bear in mind 2k23 has been on sale a lot longer and more recently fairly cheaply, so I'm sure significantly more copies will have been sold than EA PGA Tour. This will be a factor in current player numbers.

Im playing Forza Horizon atm on a completionist mission as ive burnt out on Career mode a bit, enjoying the gameplay but the format and lack of online is killing my interest. Forza MS is on its ay soon so brushing up on driving skills to prepare for it.... I'll happily switch back to PGA if turn based online play and proper lobbies are brought in.

The Bad
1. Poor character creation options.(very limited)
2. Limited games modes to play online with friends.(No Alt, Skins, 4 ball, Scramble) Those modes are only for local match.
3. terrible UI
4. No lobbies
5. And its a BIG ONE! NO MOUSE SWING!
6. Only a 3 shot penalty? (if you get 3 over it ends)
7. Bad camera angles.
8. No Replays
9. No weather
10.No turn order. (i would like to relax and watch other peoples shots) but every mode is like divot derby.
11.Rough and bunkers have no penalty(No need to calculate % of loss on your clubs)
12.Random shot Dispersion (Shot's go random no matter how good you hit the ball)
13.Lack of updates
14.No rewards after you hit level 5015. No way to add spin on the ball on higher difficulty. (Only loft options are available)
16. Fix shot types! if you change shot types it changes clubs. it should only change type available for that club not change your club!
If they would just patch the bad i listed we would have a great game!

@CkYMaximusI agree with your improvment suggestion beside three of them.
12 : I didn't notice random result in shot, every shot I hit goes at the right place depends on how good I play it.
13 : I think you're too in a hurry for update. Be patient, no game do update each week.
15 : There is no way to add spin to the ball in real golf beside of the shot type and loft.
