Why 1-round only?
Why is the only other choice going to be "one round tournaments"? I don't know about others but I still want to make a cut. That's more like PGA golf but I would also enjoy saving some time and pla...
I'd much prefer to have seen them allow a selection between 1 and 4. Everybody would have been able to make a choice each time, based on the course.
Having to choose between 1 and 4 only seems lacking to say the least.
The quick rounds aren't to my taste, so that's a non starter for me.
Two rounds is ideal for me since I do not want to waste too much time doing 4 rounds. One round is not enough to catch up if my opponents are scoring well. There are only two course I would prefer one round: Broccoli Bay (aka Chambers Bay) and Cardi Creek (aka Wolf Creek). I just want to get outta those courses ASAP.
@ELF014 I'm on my 9th season of career, and almost every game has been the full 4 rounds. I have only tried the quick round thing a few times, and thought it to be 'less than accurate' with the number of sub and over par holes.
I don't play every event and skip through quite a lot, as I've only got the Fedex Cup achievement to complete, and it's common to skip the same events over and again.
Some I would play if I could do two rounds, but might have no desire for four on the same course, and one round seems too little if I am going to make an effort to take on a course I would normally skip...
What can I say? I'm awkward. 🙂
@Noya_WesaYes you are.
I understand finding it hard to play 4 rounds every tournament because some courses can seem to be a chore. I think this is mainly because the game becomes redundant from the lack of challenge and with our expectations to win every tournament.
It's a mindset I believe we would better to be without.
I had only just gotten into my second season when I stopped playing. The AI was at 100%... playing higher than the sim settings (but with the grids on) and was winning pretty much every tournament. I am sure that is normal for a lot of people in this game.
On my PS5 there appears to be a glitch that wouldn't register my scores on certain tournaments... so I had to play season two as a completionist to capture the ones I was missing.
But the whole experience started to seem hollow and I stopped playing. I'm still missing one or two of the smaller tournaments and the optional ones.
I may start a new career where I use a stock 67 player with everything disabled. I think this will have me playing closer to par golf, at least in the beginning. So a lot of missed cuts. But this may be the way to go to at least have some sort of realism as a struggling tour player.
For myself 1 round doesn't give you the full experience of fighting to make a cut, and the grind of tournament play. It is just a way of quickly getting through a game.
Don't get me wrong... I can be the same way. I remember early on I was behind in a tournament struggling to just even make the cut. I was ready to deliberately miss the cut to get to the next tournament.
I'm now realizing that this is a mindset I really needed to change and to embrace competition and accept a challenge were winning is less attainable. If I can do this I think that when I do win it would only be sweeter.
@ELF014 As always, a nicely thought out response. 🙂
Just to add another little thought to it, from my point of view, I think one of the major reasons for avoiding some of the courses is simply the way they feel to be challenging enough, but then there's also the need to fight the RNG a lot of the time.
Watching a drive go 20 to 30 yards off to the side when you know the shot was perfectly executed is frustrating, having it happen on a course that should have enough natural challenge is just too much.
It's not always about the win, sometimes it's about just feeling like the game is worth playing... There's plenty that is easier to avoid when it's considered that way.
