I like to set up tournaments and give the winners prizes each week. When they can play there own round on there own time. Will that be posible with this release?
There were what EA Sports called "Country Clubs" in the series for Tiger Woods PGA Tour that were very similar to 2K's "Societies". They had online tournaments, if I recall correctly, in Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, but I don't recall whether they had any sort of season flow to them. I'll be surprised if we don't at least have user creatable online tournaments in the new game. I'd love to see the return of the country club structure of the Tiger Woods series. Tiger Woods PGA TOUR really hit a home run with the "Connected" tournaments, where the action of other players could be seen on the screen (at least their shot tracers) if they happened to be playing live at the time you joined the tournament. I'd love to see something like that make a return.

Going off of previous TWPGAT games. I would assume so. I think they have Country Clubs which are similar to societies in 2k23. I would assume they have something like it or they'd turn off a TON of people. I'm hopeful it comes as well!
Not entirely sure what it entails, but it has been stated they have 16 player online tournaments where you can play at the same time and see others shots. Assume it's basically an event that you all play there and then, and winner takes it.
"A new online mode will see up to 16 players compete in a mini-tournament with a full leaderboard and the ability to see other players take their shots around you."
This game needs a connected career mode and would be a clear differentiator between it and the 2K game.
Part of the reason NCAA Football, Madden, NBA 2K have such a large, devoted followings is the existence of a connected dynasty/franchise. A key element in creating replay value in sports games is making the games/tournaments feel like they matter. In my opinion, the games matter most when you've beaten a full AI field + your friends. Couple that with stacking multiple years of tournament history, stats, and trophies on top of that creates a recipe for limitless replay value. Adding matchmaking so you can be "paired" with your friend when you desire is a must.
Online tournament modes are such a waste because the scores are so unrealistic. Online societies on 2K is lacking because you can't create a schedule, matchmake to play together, the absence of AI, and year over year stat tracking. Further, the larger societies feel like they've been manipulated in some way.
It seems like there could be the framework for a good golf game here, but to win the battle with 2K there should be a connected career patched in post-release or promised in future releases.
EA you need to give us societies to compete with 2k, where we can set difficulty levels. New update looks great especially keeping 3 click separate from swimg stick. Hope we get some better camera angles when putting without grid, options to set difficulty level in online matchmaking. Been hearing that the rough is barely like 80-90's range. That doesn't make sense. Also need to be able to switch to hole view in yardage book when playing without zoom showing how green breaks like I've seen on tv in tournaments(like 2k has). Is there ever going to be a course creator? I really hope you're not planning on charging real money for additional courses because that will kill everything. Shouldn't we get more xp for playing challenges, career on higher difficulty?
- @Rob603559 A social element like societies or country clubs is desperately needed in my opinion.
Just want to add +1 to private clubs, player created tournaments, and ways to communicate and matchup with other players. Its a must and what golf gamers have been accustomed to for many years.
