I've got a feeling the Karen he was talking about left months ago, playing PGA2k23 looking and feeling just about the same as the old TGC1 released in 2014. Not that there is anything wrong with that, everybody should play what they enjoy.

Possibility the same one that delivered the Notorious Update 3 at the doorstep. It would be bad if the next golf game either EA PGA Tour 25 or PGA Tour 2K25 becomes PGA Tour Fallout. That version would be abandoned less than a year.

@PalomaMarvel24That notorious update 3 was the beginning of the end for this game, it frustrated just about everybody and many left. That's why a company should never listen to golf simmers and their fantasy, that a good golf sim is when the ball go over the hole like the hole is not there.
- PalomaMarvel245 months agoSeasoned Ace
@Katybee_1313 Totally agree. I think the notorious update 3 is the main reason the game ended up being abandoned. Changing the difficulty post launch resulted in making game very difficult for beginners like me. At the same time, the increase in difficulty was still too easy for the Simmers. This resulted in turning off both fan bases which began the vicious Rory cycle of abandonment.

Wait, it was actually somebody from here idea's to have all those weird cup physics where balls were going over the hole, and 5 to 7 lip outs a round? OMFG!!!
- Katybee_13135 months agoSeasoned Ace
Michelle, that's right, we had names for it at the time. The manhole cover, save and a beauty were all ideas from Simmers here. And EA gave them what they want, ruining the game for all others. And even after that, Simmers kept whining the game was too easy, they wanted sidewalk fast greens that after the ball went over the hole, it would continue downhill either to the sand trap or back halfway down the fairways because that's how it works in PGA 2K.
- PalomaMarvel245 months agoSeasoned Ace
In addition to the Sidewalk fast greens, the Simmers also made requests to make the sand and rough so punishing where it would be almost impossible to get out of it. Imagine the sand and rough having glue. Luckily they didn’t get implemented. If these changes were made, the game would have been re-titled to fallout since everyone else would have fallen out and quit the game much earlier.

SMH, 2K23 is a complete joke. Sis was playing career mode in there, and she saved one of her shot.
She was hitting at a pin in the back left corner of an uphill green, the pin was barely on the green so close it was to the edge. Her ball landed like 10 feet below the hole, before so very painfully moving inch by inch to the bottom of that long green. She ended up with almost a 100 foot putt. It was moving so slow, it looked like it was not moving. It took so long, we could have changed to our bikinis, made a Pina Colada, enjoy it by the pool and the ball would still not have reached the bottom of the green when we would have come back.
She has never touched that game after that, and I knew I would never played that joke of a game even though I downloaded it for free as a PS game of the month. Can't believe some over there wanted this kind of insanity in this game.

LMAO! I can't stand that big mess at 2K either. A better option for you two would have been to just stay at the pool, enjoy the day and forget about their ridiculous sim game.
To their defense, they do have many easy options, courses for beginners and those wanting to have a relaxing time.

Sadly, the more developers add coding on a game, the more bugs are showing.

There was no chance EA could compete with 2K as long as 2K keep making their golf game available for the old generation consoles, even on an old engine with outdated graphics.
- SlimDown574 months agoSeasoned Ace@Katybee_1313 I think if they would have let the people decide if they shut off the RNG they would have had a better chance of competing with 2K. So many people just through up there arms and walked and left bad reviews. IMHO

What is RNG?
- Wildesie4 months agoSeasoned Ace
@Moonie54, they're talking about Random Number Generation. It's that big circle you see when you're aiming your shot, and the ball could end up anywhere in the direction of that circle. EA had something similar in TW11, the more you add accuracy skill, the more the circle is shrinking and you hit them straight.
The issue with RNG in this game, there are some weird ball physics with your shot sometimes going against a cross wind.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Especially on some fitness shots when that round circle looks like an elongated football .

One of the things I could do in PGA Tour 2K23 that I can’t do in EA PGA Tour is hit the green in a long par 3 (over 240 yards) with a 3 iron. In current EA Golf game, my ball will go over the green like Freddy Freeman’s Home Run when I use a finesse shot with a 3 iron for a long par 3 or long approach. This is most likely caused by RNG. This is one of the issues that makes it more difficult for EA to compete with 2K for golf. The other issues that is in current game makes the gap even wider. The only way that EA can compete if they make a game like TW14; that is highly unlikely since the lead dev jumped to the 2K ship, and the resources has been shifted to more profitable games like College Football, Madden and EA FC.

3 iron are not very good in this game, specially with a finesse shot as it will roll forever. That's why I have a 6 and 9 hybrid in my bag, hitting them with either a normal approach or specially with a power approach, the ball will have a higher trajectory and stick close to where it lands on the green most of the time.

Good point 👍, I'm looking forward to the PGA 2K25 game when it comes out. I've always said if EA and 2k merged, it would be a great golf game. We'll see if that's true
- 4 months ago
I carry a 4 wood and 4,7,9 hybrids with the 6 iron being the longest iron in the bag. With the exception of St Andrews and Royal Troon I can usually get the hybrids to hold the green but the finesse shots have too much roll.👍
- Mark_Miwurdz4 months agoSeasoned Ace
You want a hybrid and use drive (if you have all control skill points) or finesse (if you have all control skill points on approach) with full loft. Full backspin on arcade or pro will help stick it. On tour and sim, you'll have to allow for some roll. Don't forger the best specs aswell.

Oh man, thanks for the tip!! I can't believe I didn't figure this one out. I equipped my bag with the same as well, It made a huge difference! Even in the challenges, Thanks again!

Info for PGA 2K25 is starting to come out, with the lead designer of this game working as lead designer of this new 2K game. With Tiger as cover of their Legend Edition.

Have they ever fixed the online gameplay when playing a friend? Usually one had to play as their own made up guy and then the other user could be whoever they wanted.

Yeah, saw that this morning. EA doesn't have anymore or gave away exclusive rights for the 4 Majors, the new 2K game has 3 of them, missing only the Masters. They're bringing daily and weekly Ranked Tour tournaments just like here. And it looks like they have cross-platform societies too.
- Katybee_131324 days agoSeasoned Ace
This new 2K game has the fingerprints of the lead designer of this game. Some of what is here is going to be in this new game. And the graphics looks a lot closer to this game than PGA 2K23. This is probably why this new 2K game is not going to be available on old generation consoles anymore.
- Wildesie24 days agoSeasoned Ace
If there was any doubt for some that this game is not only toast, but EA is not making another golf game, the fact EA didn't keep those exclusive rights for the US Open, PGA Championship and the Open is the final nail on the coffin.
