Wishing For An Arcade PGA Game in Line with SSX, NBA Street, FIFA Street

Advisory: this is a test of the Arcade Centric Broadcast and is not representative of real golf.

EA has created some of the funnest arcade games such as SSX, NBA Street and FIFA Street. Midway came with NBA Jam, NFL Blitz and NHL Hitz. Mario Golf is limited to Ninendo while Hot Shots Golf is limited to PS; I have Xbox Series X and there is no arcade version. I am wishing EA creates a PGA Version of NBA Street and SSX. It could be called PGA Putts or PGA Simpossible (since Sim is not possible in arcade) or Nelly Korda PGA Tricks. Since Current PGA Tour is a service game, the arcade version would be a different game. I am wishing EA can go back to basics and first make an Arcade Game that works like SSX. Making a hardcore simulation game would difficult to make if arcade cannot be done right.

The base gameplay resembling the Tiger Woods Series would be enjoyable instead of a curse fest like in current game. Amateur, Pro-Am, Pro, Elite and Master would be the desirable difficulty levels. Keeping settings in TW Series such as wind speed, putting following path, flag position, AI difficulty, etc would be great to have. Adjusting dispersion and lipout frequency would be a key feature.

Now here are the arcade features that would be awesome to have. 1) Similar to NBA Street and NBA Jam, the golfer becomes like Katniss' Girl on Fire look and makes super shots like Tiger Woods highlights after making 3 birdies in a row. 2) When your player becomes like Katniss, he/she can make hole outs for par 3s. 3) Specs of featured golfers would be based on what attribute is lacking; for example Danielle Kang would have ball rockets since she lacks power while Cameron Champ would have ball parachutes since he lacks accuracy and control. 4) For high elevation like hole 3 in Wolf Creek, the player can go in Maverick Mode to make birdie. 5) Golfers can have nicknames such as Felicity Bones Jones. 6) Similar to Outlaw Golf, Steve Carell would be a cool announcer where he could be joined by Tina Fey and Danny DeVito in the booth.

Dream roster: 1) PGA Players like Tiger Woods, Nelly Korda, Rory McIlroy. 2) Legends such as Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Lee Trevino, 3) Athletes like Patrick Mahomes, Lionel Messi, Stephen Curry, 4) Celebrites like Ana de Armas and Margot Robbie, 5) Star Wars Characters.

Here are my dream create a player features. 1) Game Face or some other photo face capture tool, 2) multiple clothing choices such as Nelly Korda's mock tee, cowboy hat, Darth Vader helmet, 3) Up front attributes to make an 85 OVR golfer (rest needs to be grinded), 4) Voice options such as Ana De Armas Voice. 5) Having golf clubs looking like various lightsabers such as Rey's or James Bond's golden gun.

Dream Unlockables: 1) Extra Golfers, 2) Power Suit such as Bunny Suit from TW09 that gives golfer maxed out attributes; this would be earned by defeating every golfer in "Legends of the Majors". 3) Once earned, cosmetics for power suit would be available in store and some are unlocked; I would like Ana De Armas to dress like Kylo Ren on Saturday and Captain Marvel on Sunday.

Funny thing is that NBA Street had most of these features. This is just a subset of a good arcade game. This concludes the test of the Arcade Centric Broadcast.

  • I could potentially be interested in a game like this.  NBA Street and NFL Street were 2 of my favorite console games of all time.  Over the top action, simplified controls, great rosters (especially some of the made up players like Stretch in NBA).

Heck I just wish they would port those two games to current gen systems with roster updates.  Don’t!  And I mean Don’t! Touch the gameplay.  Just port.  Re roster.  Update Graphics!

I miss those games. It is so shocking EA stopped making those games even though each iteration had great reviews. Having upgraded graphics and roster for NBA Street, NFL Street, FIFA Street and SSX would be totally amazing. Having the PGA Version join the party would be super. I agree that gameplay should not be touched.

Thought TW08 to TW10 were great Arcade games for PS3, missed those days.

I also missed the TE08 to TW10 days. These games had gameface and the Bunny Suit for maxed out stats. Wish that suit was available for Female golfers. Still those games were totally bad@$$.

I read another thread about excluding SIM players in PGA Tour and I hope this thread did not inspire it. The purpose of this thread is to advocate having a new title for an arcade version of golf similar to NBA Street, NFL Street, FIFA Street and SSX which I am very passionate about. This is more say hello to Arcade. I am thinking of having 6 difficulty levels to be more inclusive: 1) Amateur, 2) Pro Am, 3) Pro, 4) Elite, 5) Master, and 6) Legend. Nevertheless, I still want that nice Arcade feel with inclusion for all player bases.

Sometimes, this game reminds me of the old Arcade game in TW08 and TW09. I aimed in bunkers to complete those stupid sand saves quests just like I was aiming in bunkers in One Ball back then.

I somewhat remembered that. The only thing that is different is the ball would hit the bunker if I aimed for bunker. In this game, the ball ends up within 3 ft of the hole.

It would be cool if an arcade golf game similar to NBA Street and SSX can eliminate some stupid challenges like the sand save or making shots by luck. Rather have a game dependent on skill than luck.

I am currently playing NBA 2K24 and it is able to both arcade and simulation game modes. One of the things I like about the game is the card collecting for players, jerseys, coaches, and badges in MyTeam.

It would be awesome if the arcade golf game like SSX has the card collecting aspect when legends, caddies, power suits (aka bunny suit), and specs are unlocked to use for your golfer.

Bringing this thread back again because I just posted on a shot shaping thread to include in all arcade format. It would be awesome if each golfer has a set of 007’s gadgets to assist with the shot shaping. Rockets increases distance while parachutes slow down ball. The smokescreens can be used for advanced draw/fades to not be touched by the wind. Lightning bolts could be used for putting uphill.
