Are Anti-Player Updates Killing the Game?

I've played my fair share of games. Usually when an update comes out, there's something for players to get excited about - it generates buzz and new desire to play the game - which also generates sales and revenue because people spend money to have FUN. But to me, it seems like this game's updates don't give new content or do anything to me me, as a player, feel valued or rewarded. As many updates as I can remember seem all about changing existing content and event rewards in a way that winds up worsening player experience. Instead of feeling rewarded for playing, the prizes are less accessible and require either more grind or more spend to achieve the same thing you could do before with less grind or less spend. Cash grab updates don't make me want to play more or spend more - I don't know about other players. These kind of updates make me dislike the game, want to quit and resent a corporate-greed developer. Updates shouldn't take from players - they should give. But when you make rewards harder to get or lessen rewards, I feel robbed.

In the recent update, we lost gauntlets in the day-1 arena prize, making it harder (or more costly) to grind - while at the same time, making the grind longer and harder to get new plants and level up new plants. I hate it. I'm not going to play that game for their profit. More grind, less fun = player loss.

The Pinata in the store that also has new plant seed packets - this time around is now loaded with garbage common plant seeds so that you get fewer new plant seeds. Anybody else notice this and feel it was just another anti-player cash grab?

They also now make the daily challenge cost gems to reply. Why?? There's limited content in this game. The daily challenge is just a fun little add-on. But why would anyone pay gems for a random chance at usually bad plants and a pinata jackpot that you almost never win? So instead of getting to enjoy the daily level twice, the make it, in my opinion, more anti-player.

Then going back a few updates the extra hard levels went from 100 gem rewards down to 80. Another stingy anti-player update.

Updates should make you WANT to play more. This is the only game where EVERY update makes me more disgusted rather than excited to keep playing. I was going to get a couple more paid plants before the last update. Now i think i'm done supporting this anti-player company and game. If they need to generate revenue, here's a novel thought, make NEW, FUN content that gets players into the game instead of making old content less fun with shameless, cash-grabby updates.
