I play since day 1. Unfortunately, I had a break for 2 years because my phone broke and I didn't think that my progress was saved so I didn't install PvZ2 on my new phone^^
I'm pretty sure that there has never been a costume drop in Endless Zone, though 😉 I do remember the Mystery Boxes and the old Pinata Parties where you only had to complete three in a row to get the grand prize. Back then, there was like a 100% chance to get a costume in the big Pinata if you didn't have all the costumes yet.
If you have the time someday it would be nice if you could go through the list of unused costumes on page 19 and tell me if you own any of them.
I will ask Haem about the costumes next year and whether they will make a return. If there is no chance to get all the costumes, I will quit this game. I'm a completionist and I can't play the game knowing I will never get all the costumes 🥺 😤 😓

I've been tinkering with my virtually untouched second profile today, I played the Pinata Party and the 3rd box was a costume for Holly Barrier, also lit up in the "look at what you could have won" box was the electric peashooter costume. It's been so long for me since I won anything remotely interesting in this game that it gave me a smile
@PowerToss I understand how you feel about being a completionist but stick with it, I'm sure we can bully Haem on the other side about costumes! You have more than me and I'm not giving up yet! 😀

@FantastiXxPVZ Thank you very much for checking! The Fandom page seems to be absolute inaccurate when it comes to costumes. Twin Sunflower's red sunglasses are listed as "PvZ Allstars costume"...but if you own that I guess it's also a PvZ2 costume. You are not mistaken the red sunglasses with the regular black sun glasses, are you?
Anyway, it's getting more and more ridiculous I think I miss over 40 costumes 😭 I'm going to make a table now 😤

Very Nice! Don't know how you'll annotate, but Shadow Pea and Zoybean were a Premium Bundle. Bonkchoy, Torchwood, and Shadowshroom came out with a Heros event only. I'll do some more digging, when I have time.

All of the Iceberg Lettuce came back one time as a Community Contest Winner, so that was out of cycle.

@FantastiXxPVZ Thank you for digging into the costume thing. I'm mainly interested in the costumes that are listed as unused on the fandom page and are also in my list: https://plantsvszombies.fandom.com/wiki/Plants_vs._Zombies_2/Concepts/Costumes
I couldn't find any footage of players getting them in a Pinata Party or in the shop etc. but since you have those costumes there must have been a time they were obtainable :/
Not sure where you got the Pepper-Pult image from but Intellectual Games is not a good source. He modded the code to get the costumes and has a lot of videos earning costumes in Pinata Parties that weren't released at that point in time.
Maybe Haem can give us some more insights about the release of old costumes. I've read somewhere that "special event costumes" might make a return someday but this could just be a delay tactic^^

Not sure why they would list Wall-nut, Peashooter, and Sunflower, as those are always events/special occasion for cosmetic, but you don't get to keep them. Also, if they are going to list them, then there are tons they are missing. They should have created it's own category '"Special Event Only."
Also, why Marigold? I have never different costumes for an Almanac and Zen Garden only plant.
The Fandom site Is outdated. I know for a fact that some of them, if not in a Pinata, have been in the store.
The Puff Shroom Cowboy Hat, Marching Band Hats for Pean Pod, and the Backwards cap for Pepperpult are most likely fan (on Devian Art) made or scrapped.
- IMO there are a lot of costumes that are not included in costume cycle. even that torchwood ☹️

Well, that's the concepts/costumes side. The normal costume side has a rubric with special events and whether you got to keep the costume https://plantsvszombies.fandom.com/wiki/Costumes

Also, when you look up a plant on the fandom site there is a list with the costumes the plant has. For instance, Bonk Choy:
But as you said this might be outdated since this doesn't include the Bonk Choy suit and others.
