@MortStella No idea who contributes to the fandom page but I would guess it is like wiki. If I ever do an update about the costumes I will definitely wait until we've heard from an "official" (Haem) about the costumes. It is funny that it seems like we are missing the same costumes. Maybe you could screenshot your spreadsheet and post it here 😉
@FantastiXxPVZ What I mean with Intellectual Games isn't a good source is for example this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lReN8NA9DoY
He won Laser Bean's suit during the Food Fight Event in 2014 but the only costumes that could be won during that event were the Big Wave Beach costumes. He only could have obtained the Laserbean costume by a) overwriting the pp.dat, b) modding the code (changing some HEX numbers). He is btw the guy you got the screenshot of the Pepper-Pult costume from 😜
That doesn't mean that Laserbean's suit wasn't released later on, though.
From what I understand is Haem was hired later, as she has made reference to "Old Popcap" and decisions by them before her, several times, but yes, still our best resource.
It seems that in your extensive research you have stumbled on a Hacker, but I am NOT subscribed to them. The only Hackers/Modders I am aware I am subscribed to are kGame, Nighty Knight Gaming, and Alien Gurke, because they have been nice in the past and from what I witness, aren't actually hacking their game play, like PvZ2 Battlez (or whatever his YT is named now). The screenshot was downloaded and an old one, but came from a forum. So, I suppose they may have known your reference. On a side note, It is puzzling though as why they would hack a save game and yet it appears in his video, so I'm not sure it was done that way. I did click on some of their other videos and see comments resembling the ones kGame gets "How are you previewing this already?" So, for certain you are right. Also, my showing the Pepper-Pult shows that it was in the game, during a Valenbrainz event time-frame, even it wasn't actually collectible. It may have been scrapped and shouldn't be counted as a missing costume, was my point.
You have shown Sprite Sheets, but how do we know those are current or accurate? Not a good method for Fandom to show Hacked material to prove existence, as they may have been changed or scrapped. Like, for instance the Marigold might not have different color costumes, but may be used in animation to show flashing or something, rather than as a definitive collectible.
