I haven't had a problem so far with arena, i haven't tried penny's pursuit yet but am about to and will edit this post when I've finished on my mastery and max profiles.
I was playing a spare, previously blank profile to fill my almanac which is how i found out about adventure levels being affected.
Obviously, i can't use the store because of this bug, but at LEAst i can still play arena by using the workaround.
The game updated automatically on my newer phone, the older one needed a lot of storage space for the update.
Thank you for the confirmation and I will share your workaround with other who might still want to play Arena. It appears it is sad news for players who need to access the original adventure mode and making purchases from store. I hope our CM is reading this message and alert the devs.
There is a new reward, 💎💎💎 for planting a sprout in the Zen garden, i claimed it then got the restoring purchases bug.
I didn't have any problems with bugs playing penny's pursuit in two different profiles.

- @MAGICDAVESHROOM Thats odd, I've had that reward for years, literally, but only for 1 gem. I have a new quest however which gets me 3 gems if I play a level and use Rent A Plant. I have all the plants in the game so it's about as much use as a chocolate 🫖.
It might have been there for ages, but i have only just noticed it.
It seems that i can get normal store access without the purchases bug by going there from the arena screen.
- @MAGICDAVESHROOM Yes, I've found that the least hazardous route. Also I can normally get via the Zen Garden but anything else is a no go!
I have just posted in 'something odd' about the EA HELP CENTER that you might find interesting.
I recently updated to 11.5.1 a couple of days ago and my phone LG V30 android Oreo is running very hot and occasionally hangs for a couple of seconds. No actual crashes yet, just freezing.

Interesting, so the issue is not iOS only. Some developer must have messed up very badly in this release.
My guess is that some of the CPU/GPU intensive instructions might have been erroneously left running in background so with older iOS hardware, the output frame rate dropes to about 1 FPS and with more capable hardware the result is excessive heat and heavy battery drain.
Thanks @MAGICDAVESHROOM for confirming the problem is also happening on Android device as well, this pretty much also confirms when PopCap said 'things are heating up this summer' it means our gaming devices.... 👿
Ref. 11.6.1 update
I started the game on my iphone last night and there was a force update messgae appearing on the loading screen and there was no option to play the game with the old release. I guess the new arrangement now is forcing all players to update in order to get an option to play the game!
After a minutes or so, the App restarted and then an error message appears stating the patching was unsucessful.
At this point, I force closed the APP and it then restarted with the patching ending correctly at 100% this time. I now have the latest 11.6.1 on my iPhone and all seemed to be running normal so far, no slow down and no obvious excessive heat like the previous 11.5.1 release.
