New update destroys game
Today the game forced update. And now this game is horror. 1. Game is Closed everywhere. a) Claim reward - game are closed. b) Open game - game are closed. c) Penny Persuit - game are closed. Aft...
Total crash on splash screen here. Trying a 2nd, 3rd.. 11th, 20th time does not help.
Cannot even get to the main menus of the game, Settings screen or anywhere at all?!
(So, cannot submit issues from in-game menus due to this.)
Using Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 2014 Edition tablet, which has Android OS 5.1 Lollipop, and on which PvZ2 game has worked (mostly) great for the last 5+ years. 🙂
Plenty of storage free (i.e. 6+ GB free out of 32 GB storage).
Well, sometimes in recent 1+ year it gets frozen, needing me to close the game and re-run it but this happens fairly rarely so I usually just do the 2-3 closes/re-runs it wants from me.)
The crashes have nothing to do with your device or if you are on android or IOS.Only a new update from EA can fix it.I do urge all players not to uninstall and reinstall the game as that will only treat you as a new player in the store and not fix anything.I know it’s frustrating and has happened a lot just lately.
Not using the iOS version for years, Android only for me.
I did just that a few mins ago. All fine for me. 🙂
My progress is saved into my EA (Cloud) account, so what I did on my Samsung Android tablet was Clear cache + Clear data for PvZ2 Android application from Android OS Settings.
Just doing a Clear cache did not work for me.
Then even without a device restart I was able to easily recover my progress - i.e. all plants that I had previously, plus gold/crystals/gauntlets/other stats/resources.
I realize not all players will use an EA/Cloud account, so probably a good suggestion in general not to do it and wait for next update.
And I do see all lots of funky stuff in the game Store. 🙂

Hope that is being fixed now, especially if it was the core reason for crashing. 🙂

You were correct - the game is indeed not working, and we need to patiently wait for the upcoming, hopefully coming soon fixed next version.
Yes, my PvZ2 Android game worked for a bit, but then after I opened the Store, then switched to another running app (Firefox for Android web browser), the game went back to constantly crashing on startup/splash screen - namely, at one point of loading the green progress bar.
I cannot make it work anymore.
You said it does not matter what kind of mobile device is used, but I will check to be sure my much newer, Android OS 9.0 Pie Xiaomi phone crashes the same way.
(NOTE: I usually do not ever run/play the game via my Android phone, as multi-device playing mostly works, but has bugs with quests/Penny Pursuit.
Thus I mostly avoid it due to this.)
Developers, due to PvZ2 game being unplayable, including multiplayer BattleZ, I assume you will punish all players by moving them back 1, 2, 3, 4 Leagues back in BattelZ rankings due to not playing enough (at all!), yes?
If so, how - if at all! - do you plan to compensate players for being pushed back this way?
Can you "freeze" the multi-player rankings maybe while the bug is still not fixed?
If not, many players will find themselves going from Silver or Gold (or higher) to the very lowest ranks possible! ☹️
