After you finish, do NOT press the "Watch Ad to Play Again" button. Just go to your home screen and look to see whether there is "RETRY" or."Watch Ad" button in lower left corner. Tell us what you find.

Thank you for the reply. It seemed to have fixed itself a few days ago, and I was able to get 2 checkmarks (I'm not sure why it suddenly started working again), but I made sure to heed your advice. All was going well until today; after I did today's level, I didn't even get the option to watch an ad to replay. It took me to the main screen immediately and now I'm stuck at 2/5 levels completed, even though I just finished my 3rd. Ugh.
Interestingly, now the retry button is there on the main menu and I can use it, but I still don't get any progress towards the day 5 reward.
