PvZ 2 restore progress chromebook

My son's half brother broke his chromebook. He has a new one and loaded from google play however only the purchases have carried over not his progress or any characters he unlocked.I was able to get into the old chromebook by hooking it up to a monitor but so i do have his player ID. How do i restore his progress on to the new chromebook? I only see help topics for android and apple. There is no controller icon on the start up screen as indicated for the google instructions. I assume since chromebook runs off google play that it would be similar but i can't figure out how to save/restore the data.
