Play pvz1, it's a much better game even though the graphics aren't as good.
There are ads in pvz1 but no micro transactions.

Your problem is a compatibility between the device and the game but my guess is that both parties would say they product works ok.
I am sure there are plenty of games do work normal with your device and EA would argue PVZ2 also works 'normal' on many devices (baring a few glitches).
Bottom line, if you 'really-really' want to play the game in short term, then maybe changing your game device is an option to consider.
