A more common issue is complete loss of account data, many players have recently been reporting this, particularly after an update but it has been an issue for years and there was a particularly bad outbreak about 5 years ago after an update when a lot of players lost their account data.
@MAGICDAVESHROOMI have no memory of the outbreak 5 years ago - I stopped playing the game for a while back then. Current symptom is Force Sync Player Data still works, but whenever the game gets restarted, the local game profile is wiped out.
Looks like @rainhaven2050 is indeed in the same situation as I am. The save doesnt stay.
@MAGICDAVESHROOM I wasnt playing pvz2 5 years ago. Last time I had data loss like this was a few months ago when there was a server sync issue in the US, that resulted in lost of gems/coins....which I accepted since I still had my plants, seeds and progress. The issue me and Rainhaver2050 seems to be encountering is that its a total loss of account (ingame) data (via the save). Player ID is the same, but the local save that uploads keeps getting replaced with a fresh game, even after a save restore.
My most recent restore (few minutes ago), I made sure to check that the new save was showing up on EA servers (I had my android device pvz2 reset, so I can confirm on the conflicting profile selection page-that it was showing the EA icon). With the save "temporarily" restored, I made changes (seed purchases, add watches), hoping that it uploads up the changes, incase modified timestamp might play a part....trying to figure what can be done to keep the save. Sadly after the pvz2 app restarted, it started a new game save again. Both Android and Ipad were running the newest version.
I did point the EA support guy (Ashwani) to this thread, pointing out that @rainhaven2050 also has this issue. He mentioned that they will escalate to devs/community manager and will hopefully get a reply in this thread.
