I called it!!!
Any company who does the unscrupulous tactics of BAIT & SWITCH... ALWAYS ends up also doing the NINJA EDIT tacatics as well.
I don't mean to tell you all I told you so... but...
Well, I told you so! 🙂
Lmao
I changed a bit my strategy, instead of Lighning Reed, I'm using that good old primal peashooter, 2 on each column, with bloomerang and laser bean.
I think its effect may be a good combo with Spear-mint.
So far I'm doing around 1M, it's not that great but it's working OK.- ApprovedAnonymous7 years ago

EA logic
Yeah I see that , kinda sucks not gonna go for a win this week , this scores that I am getting isn't worth it , going to save up and go big next week. This week I will just play on my android account without premium plants , currently leading the wood league on a streak of 40 . So easy compared to the Jade league the opponents only score 15k to 300k lol.
Has anyone else started to get consistently lower scores now than those being scored earlier on in the tournament?
I keep finding this week after week. For the first couple of days I will score well. Then my scores steadily decline.
My high score for this week is 4,889,890. I got it on Thursday evening and it was one of several 4 million plus scores.
Today (Friday) my best score has been 3,613,395. This is despite my main plant (Laser Bean) being elevated from level 12 at the start of the tournament to level 13 today.
In past weeks I've been able to mitigate the steadily declining scores by using differing load outs. I would play a few matches with one lineup, then change to another once my scores began to drop off. When I played with the altered lineup, my scores would climb again, only to decline after a few matches. I would then change back and my scores would return to normal until the cycle began again.
With this week's tournament there seems to be only one truly effective load out - Parsnip (Waste of a slot anyway, but even more so due to its family being nerfed) - Grave Buster (Which is only used to create a space for Bombard-Mint) - Bombard-Mint (To clear the gravestones) - Spear-Mint - and then imitated Laser Bean.
With no effective alternative, I've had to stick with the same lineup and watch as my scores get worse and worse.
I've come ever closer to losing matches, so I've made the decision to stop playing for the remainder of the tournament. (I now have both Parsnip and Shadow Peashooter maxed out, so taking a rest won't cause any problems on that front.)
These close run matches haven't been due to my opponents getting gradually better scores, but because MY scores keep falling. This is despite me using the same plants and the same planting routine for each match.
I'm now beginning to think that this is down to EA/Popcap altering the Zombie load-outs after a few days to make them more difficult to score on, and this is done to increase the likelihood of human players being defeated by the recorded scores from earlier in the week when it was easier to score.
I now keep getting periods of 5 to 15 seconds with hardly any zombies coming out towards the ends of matches. I've also had games with only a couple of zombies right at the start and the rest don't start to appear until after all the gravestones have gone.
I was NOT getting that sort of thing earlier in the week.
Like I said, is anyone else finding this?
I honestly don't know, I did not play a lot of games this week ...
I may play a bit more this we to upgrade my SP (EA is so generous with us, 20 seeds max as rewards...yeah). But when I got lower score this week it was because I was not lucky at the beginning of the game.
And in the previous week, there was always a game from time to time were I scored less but not sure my scores decreased during the week.
Well it could be some "scale bias", since you are scoring big scores, it may be easier for you to notice that kind of pattern than for us with lower score.
I'll try to have a look next week (woohoo even if the plant of next week will probably be useless (almost as usual), I do have that one !) but I guess you may have more answer to your question on Reddit where there are other players doing big scores 🙂I definitely get progressively worse scores as I play. I don't have a very high level laser bean (9) so don't get the scores you're getting but even so I normally score 1.5M+ until I get to around the tenth game then it starts to drop and I usually lose scoring less than 1M.
I guess what you experience is the dreaded 10th game curse, when you're confronted by a terminator bot. (You know, the ones that don't exist.) That's something I've not been troubled by all that much since my plants reached high enough levels to allow me to win through.
My situation is something that usually seems to set in during the third or fourth day of a tournament, when I start to see a general falling off in all of my match scores.
That's why I'm now wondering if the replays used are from early on in the various weeks, before the nature of the zombie load-outs seem to change.
One thing I noticed was this weeks scores for killing individual zombies. It was easier to spot because there are fewer different types of zombies. I've seen scores of 6,000: 7,800: 10,500: 11,750 and, less commonly, 14 thousand and something. (14,500?)
Early in the week I seemed to be getting an even spread between those values. Now, there seems to be way more of the 6,000 scores and far fewer of the 11,750 and 14,500 scores. (Except on rare occasions.)

I have found this on a lot of tournaments, I can't speak for this tournament because I stopped playing it because my score is too low and not stable . For example day 1 -2 I would score let's say 3 mil day 3-5 2.5 mil then day 6-7 2.2 mil . Another thing I noticed is that every 7-12 games I would get 1 game where mostly low scoring zombies would enter the board . i Have also experienced the no zombies for 15-30 seconds, this mostly happens to me during the middle of the game. I took screenshots of that a while back I will have a look if I still have it then post it here. The scores I mentioned obviously vary with tournament but the drop is always constant so I always mainly play on day 1 and 2 the other advantage of playing on day 1 and 2 is deterring the other players from chasing your score to win the league, if they pass my usual 500 crowns for the first 2 days I don't bother chasing them because the rewards for 1st place simply is not worth it.

I don't believe in any 10-game streak-breaker....
The thing is, the game NATURALLY pairs you up against increasingly higher valued game results the stronger you do.

I have also started going in hard and fast in the tournaments. By late on Thursday night (While I was still scoring really well) I had amassed 940 crowns in my Jade league. Despite the sudden and glaringly obvious drop off in my scores on Friday, I took that up to a round 1,000. I now intend to monitor how things go to see if anyone below me tries to bridge the gap. The last time I checked the league table on Friday night, second place was just over 450 behind and third was about 200 behind them.

I HAVE noticed that opponent scores seem to go in cycles. (It could possibly be every 10 to 15 matches, but I haven't been taking notes.)
It's a bit like a gentle Sine Wave that varies between a period of low scoring opponents, then those with average scores, followed by a peak where a few with much higher scores appear. It then drifts back to low scoring opposition as if the cycle has been reset.

Actually they don't go higher they work in cycles, the cycles vary with tournaments you would get high scoring opponents 10-14 then low scoring 15-24 then goes high again this cycle goes on forever no matter how high your streak.
My best scores so far this week
I'm kinda satisfied cause even if I adapted this strategy from someone else, I'm playing my own strategy this week 🙂https://answers.ea.com/t5/Plants-vs-Zombies-2/5000-coins-plant-seed-no-longer-on-offer/m-p/7058311/highlight/true#M5356
" I really don't think we will have "regular" Blover along with Chard Guard not nerfed together anymore..."
EA devs you are so easyyyy to predict 🥳Actually it's kinda weird how they nerfed Blover...
I don't know if it is a glitch or not.
Maybe chard+Blover could still be an option this week (but maybe they will remove it 2h after the beginning of the tournament again)

How about next's week's tournament guys the highest I have been able to score is 3 mil testing in practice mode. I saw someone on reddit scoring 17 mil.

Let me guess, this is achieved by using maxed out premium plants.

Yes his plants are all maxed but I think it's the spear mint that do a lot of damage, I managed to get mine to level 4 with some spare mints I am just short 52 mints to make it level 5 . I will be in gold league this week that gives less rewards than jade but is a little easier.
- You should think before upgrading, at levels 2,4 and 7 five seconds gets knocked off the recharge time and when it's maxed out at level 10 it recharges in 60 seconds.
Those mints would probably be better off saved for the next useful mint because all i think you're buying is ONE extra spikerock per use (but remember that the spikerocks are the level of your spearmint-fandom).
Your mints, your choice. I did also around 3M, Spear Mint do a lot of damages again.
I would go for Spear Mint + Laser + Blover + Some producing plant (moonflower or primal sunflower ?) + I don't know for the last one (Bombardmint can't kill zombies that are on Spikerocks (when spear mint is active or not ?) so I'm not sure it's a good idea).
I also did 3 million IN TRAINING and so far my scores in tournament haven't come close to my training scores.
You can get 6 moonflowers in a block which means they all are generating at maximum from the start.

The issue is, when will we have another good mint ?
Spear-mint is so far considered as one of the top 3 Power-mint, after BBM and before RM.Next mint should be
PremiumEnchant-mint (like seriously the family contains 2 gemium plants, 2 premium plants and the only free plant is the ducking mighty Intensive Carrot). So except if you are a Cauli lover, Enchant-mint family is probably one of the worst family of plants...Even for the gemiums, SV is like always banned when there are Gargs in Battlez and hypno-shroom is a passive plant (so not so great in Battlez) and if you are unlucky, it can be eaten by an imp, a weak zombie or even a mighty zombie chicken...
Plus its power does not seems that great (compared to BBM or SM) or bad (compared to Contain-mint or Fila-mint).So Enchant-mint will probably be great for players spamming Cauli but not that good for F2P players...
Next after this should be Pepper-mint, it seems to have a good power and the pepper family is more versatile and interesting than Enchant-mint.
And probably after, one of the most anticipated Power-Mint (at least for me), the one for shadow plants.

Except if you put your moonflowers on the first lanes, you can't put more than 4 MF in a block (+3 next to it but they will not be fully boosted...☹️)
I don't know when the next "good mint" will come out, only EA knows and they are all wearing their tinfoil hats against my caulipowers' mind reading powers.
Mints are hard to come by and when reinforcemint and bombardmint came out i hadn't got enough to upgrade them so i don't buy the cr*pmints. Most of these plants and mints have a major and minor upgrade cycle and the major have recharge time knocked off ( L2,4,7 and 10). It's your decision, i just want you make an informed choice.

That's what you think.
