Hello everyone,

Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding a potential issue with PvZ 2 causing the loss of in-game progress following the recent 11.7.1 update.

UPDATE:

It appears that the PvZ team conducted some backend maintenance over the past week(end), which is likely the reason that previously lost in-game progress is starting to reappear. Please keep in mind that your progress is typically backed up through either iCloud or Google, depending on your device.

If you are still facing issues with lost progress after the 11.7.1 update, we would appreciate it if you could provide us with the following details so we can escalate the matter for further investigation:

  • Did you use the PvZ 2 backup methods (iCloud or Google, depending on your device)?

  • Have you recently restored your device or reinstalled the app?

  • Did you update your device recently? If so, what version of the operating system are you now using?

  • What type of device are you playing on? (Please specify the model, e.g., Apple iPad Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy Fold 6, Google Pixel 9, etc.)

  • What is the current version of your operating system? (e.g., iOS 17, Android 14, etc.)

  • What language is your operating system set to?

  • Is your copy of PvZ 2 fully up to date?

    @EA_Leeuw Can you please clarify whether the backend maintenance conducted by the team caused the issues with game progress, or resolved the issues? It's not clear whether you're saying the issues have been mitigated or whether they're still being investigated.

  • I made a case with EA help and it seems like I got an answer during the night, but I don't know how I can see the answer... I see "My cases" with a red 1, I see "Open cases - new". I click that and I see "Case summary", with my original post but no answer. There's "resume case" which leads to customer service... WHAT?!

    I’d like to find out why we can’t restore our game progress with an iCloud backup file? I bought a new iPhone 16 & after setting it up, I went to play PVZ 2 on my iPad (same acct) and all progress was lost. Can’t find my screenshot of Player ID (although I know all my profile names). And, like many people who lost progress, I’ve played since the game came out & also played the original PVZ, so am clearly bummed after spending $$$ & building up progress. I restored my phone with an iCloud backup from several days before I bought the new phone & no luck.

    @acc50512de96de64   If you restore the PVZ2 App on your iphone with a backup BEFORE your progress was reset, there is a high chance you can get your original player ID from the iOS's Settings Menu.

    Steps below might help.

    1) Restore the App on your iphone from your backup.

    2) Select Settings

    3) Scroll down to find PvZ2

    3) your player ID can be found from the PLAYER INFO section (over 5 lines)

  • Thanks for your msg. So I was using an ICloud backup copy to restore my phone before I had purchased the phone, however, I’m not sure I looked at the iPhone settings first or went in the PVZ2 app & looked up Player ID.  Anyway, to verify I not only restored the phone again using that version of the iCloud backup copy, but I also used one from 6 days before that. Both times I verified the player ID by going into iPhone settings instead of the app first. I noticed that when I backed up my new phone to the 9/27 copy I had V11.5.2 installed, whereas when I backed up to the 10/3 copy, I had V11.7.1 installed.

    So what was confusing me was that I couldn’t get the actual game play data restored via iCloud & my player ID number was the same & not different than my original one. I wasn’t sure exactly what was being saved via iCloud backups.  So I assume that this is a way to get your player ID if you haven’t started playing again with a new ID but the game data will always be loaded via the EA servers, correct? And in this case my game data had been wiped. But now I have Player ID screenshots by restoring via iCloud & can send my screenshot to the EA help center to restore my account game data.

    The AI bot on the help page does nothing, the articles are not helpful at all. 

    What do I have to do?
