PVZ2 game progress lost after last update!

I upgraded to the 12.5.1 level last week.  When I opened the game again, the application of the patch failed on both my iphone and ipad.  In both cases, the app then crashed.  After restarting PVZ2, a much longer patch application happened.  To my dismay, the game was reset so it was as if I was a brand new player instead of the one that has been playing for years.  Please help!  I've seen reference to opening a Case with EA, but after a long time searching, I can't figure out how to do so.
