Ability discussion: butter barrage, bigger better butter, and butter beacon.

Butter barrage, bigger better butter, and butter beacon.

Butter barrage-default

Gw2 description:

Mark the danger zone with a steaming hot baked potato, then stand back as explosive butter rains from the sky!

Kernel corn throws a steaming hot potato from pvz2. Shortly, 2 butterhawks will drop six butter each in succession in an x that deal 20 (240 total) damage each. 35 second recharge.

Bigger better butter-special

Gw2 description:

That's right, folks! Better Butter! Instead of lots of tiny buttery explosions, how about one massively huge one?

Hot Potato summons a huge block of butter that deals up to 200 damage in a large radius. If the butter lands on a zombie, they will take 20 damage. 35 second recharge. It takes a little longer to land than butter barrage.

Its explosion radius is much lower than butter barrage.

Butter beacon-default (bfn)

Bfn description:

Reveal enemies for a short time by throwing a pat of tactical butter.

Kernel Corn throws a piece of butter that, upon hitting something, starts to send out spherical transparent yellow waves which reveal nearby enemies for 5 seconds. 16 second recharge. Zombies and gnomes detected by the ability will be highlighted yellow and take 1 extra point of damage from Kernel Corn’s Cob Busters, and 22 more direct damage from each Shuck Shot hit. Still not enough shuck damage to kill a soldier kek.

Has 2 upgrades.

20/10: larger area highlighted by Butter Beacon.

Increase size of Butter Beacon by 25%.

Re-corn-naissance: Faster refresh time for Butter Beacon by vanquish on highlighted enemy.

Decreases the cooldown time for Butter Beacon by 12 seconds upon vanquishing a highlighted enemy.

Both butter strikes are useful for putting pressure on zombies on a point with the premise of high damage if they stay in those areas. BBB has one use 200 damage explosives but it has less radius than the butter barrage which can also potentially outdamage it.

I don't like butter beacon. It reveals enemies but only corn can really take advantage since he gains a damagae increase that finally puts him on soldier level for a few seconds, what a joke. Due to how bfn maps are designed it's not very hard to find enemies not too mention the easy to follow projectile trails.

In comparison, soldier has a smoke grenade and with sticky it can do serious damage, all of his allies can see enemies through it and still get damage from it to help them. Even without sticky, smoke grenade makes foot soldiers dps seriously high. So why does corn have to rely on butter beacon for dps but soldier doesn't have rely on a ability to have solid damage it makes no sense. Then you got corns crappy rof upgrade that is inferior to soldiers. Why does soldier get an ability that can help both him and his team but corn can only help himself with the beacon?

I could know the enemy position or I could just clear the point with the penalty of over 200 damage if the enemy team refuses to move.

  • I generally use bigger, better butter in GW2, but butter barrage is fine as well. I actually like butter beacon but part of that is I like the changes to spotting in BfN and both GW2 butter attacks have the issue where they hit some terrain feature and do nothing to the zombies as they explode harmlessly far above the battle, this is also at least partially why almost every building in GW2 has an open top or very high ceiling; so the butter attacks can be used almost anywhere, but the issue of outcroppings, overhangs, and other parts of the map blocking the attacks persists as it drops from the plane above.

That being said, beacon could use a buff. Have it last longer, give a bigger damage bonus, or other things to make it more effective and useful.

@Iron_Guard8It is annoying when a bad throw keeps the butterhawks from being effective. I do think they did zombopolis indoors on purpose to avoid cactus and corn from nuking the battery in 10 seconds.

Butter beacon would work a lot better if the map design wasn't so shallow imo as bfn maps really suffer the basic left, middle, right design as a shooter where there's rarely ever a reason to divulge from the main path (alongside the fact that every class has their own projectiles to easily follow) and it also doesn't tell you whether the enemy is healthy or near death, something like the uav in call of duty works because everyone can benefit from it due to short ttk, seeing the entire map, and the enemy team can respond to it and shoot it down. If an entire team could can a damage buff it may be good but otherwise it's just a worse jinx with wallhacks.

I also wish that much like other bfn abilities we at least have a choice in what we can equip.
