Ability discussion: cannon rodeo and anchors away

Cannon rodeo and anchors away

Cannon rodeo-default

Gw2 description: The Cannon Rodeo is every bit as fun as it sounds. Ride a giant cannon and shoot super powerful cannon balls at whatever you want!

Deadbeard will spawn a cannon and then sit on it. He is stationary until the ability ends. It is able to shoot six cannonballs before cooldown, and each direct hit from the cannonballs does 50 damage. It does 20 splash damage. 30 second cooldown. Deadbeard does not gain damage resistance but hitting the cannon does no damage to him.

Anchors away-bfn default

Deadbeard puts an anchor with a rope attached on it to shoot it like a grappling hook and reach high areas. Deals 50 damage if it hits a plant and has a 10 second cooldown.

Heavy metal:

Start with max zoom damage for short time after activating Anchor's Away.

Gain an instant full charge on Spyglass Shot after using Anchor's Away.

Shore leave:

Move faster for a short time after landing from Anchor's Away.

Increases movement speed by 30% for 5 seconds after using Anchor's Away.

I've grown to like anchors away but i simply wish we were allowed to choose are abilities as cannon rodeo is a solid ability and doesn't deserve to simply be tossed away. Also why the heck does the anchor due 50 damage and move quickly but cactus gets the joke that is her slow as heck propeller. It honestly feels like an ability that would be better in gw2 due to more high ground available.

  • The only issue I have with cannon rodeo is that we have so many turret modes in GW2 already, and like the Engineer's big bolt blaster, if you shoot at the deadbeard, they are not only armored, but hitting the cannon doesn't damage the pirate. It's a good ability for sure.

Anchors away is decent and superior to the cacti's petal power ability as while it can bug out at times, it never leaves you stuck in midair and can be used quickly to get out of danger and get to high ground.

And yes, I love alternate abilities being options, it's one reason I prefer the GW games and TF2 over OW.

The more we discuss these, the more I want GW3! Still playing these games, mostly GW2, but we need new stuff; new abilities, new variants, new maps (and bring back the old ones), new bosses, and just more stuff to do!

@Iron_Guard8 I'd definitely take cannon rodeo over bbb though since it's more unique to the regular turret modes and deadbeard isn't protected the way engineer is.

Bfn took a lot of the variety out of the series with the removal of variants and alternate abilities that helped keep the gameplay from getting repetitive and stale. Still can't believe we have less non turf maps than gw1 lmao.

I want a gw3 so badly but its most likely not gonna happen. They had there chance and they blew it. I woild really like for the dev team to be able to explain to us what the hell happened between gw2 and bfn.
