Ability discussion: empeach and navel laser

Empeach and navel laser

Empeach-default (gw2/bfn)

Gw2 description: More than just a robotic peach with a cute name, the EMPeach has been specially designed to stun Zombies, and especially Z-Mechs!

Bfn description:

Shoots an E.M.Peach that stuns enemies and depletes Z-Mech fuel.

Citron charges up than fires the empeach that flies and explodes on contact in an orange electric pulse which deals 10 damage on impact, and 5 damage for over 2-5 seconds afterwards.

When used on Z-Mechs, their abilities will be disabled for longer, and they take up to 60 damage.

In bfn it no longer deals damage but it drains z mech fuel by half.

Has 2 upgrades.

Peached:

Longer stun duration by hitting enemy directly with E.M.Peach.

Peachy:

Gain Peel Shield health by stunning enemies with E.M.Peach.

Gain 200 points of Peel Shield health by stunning enemies with E.M.Peach.

Navel laser-default bfn

Bfn description: A precision beam that grows in power.

Lasts 6 seconds and has an 18 second cooldown.

Citron has a brief animation where he turns his burst shot weapon into a lance shaped weapon, then starts shooting a laser for 6 seconds. This laser starts off doing 5 damage per hit (6 critical), and increases to 10 damage (12 critical) and then 14 damage (17 critical). The visuals of the laser change slightly to indicate this.

Has 2 upgrades.

Juiced: Navel Laser has larger width and always deals critical damage.

Pulp powered: Extended Naval Laser duration by earning a Vanquish with Naval Laser.

Vanquishing enemies with Navel Laser extends its duration by 2 seconds.

I'm kinda glad the damage from gw2 was removed, though it should stay with z mechs imo. It was akways annoying to almost beat a citron and then have him pop you for the win.

My main problem with tye bfn version is how much it cuts mechs fuel as 2 citrons can completely shut down a mechs and station has no such weakness meanwhile.

Peachy upgrade is just a pita to fight.

Navel laser is decent and provides citron with a ranged option (why?) It can still be deadly with good aim as the ai often prove.

  • EMPeach is very annoying to be hit with, especially in GW2 where it also does damage, not a lot,m but enough to compound on how vulnerable it makes zombies that are caught by it.As far as mechs, it is meant to be a counter, but unlike OW that over-relies on the idea of counters, it's not as widespread in the PvZ shooters; it's really only Citron vs. Mechs and Engineer stuns vs. burrowing chompers, so it feels a bit odd. One reason I love GW and GW2 is that I don't feel  I have to swap to a different character to counter a particular enemy class/variant, whereas in OW it was borderline required.

Navel Laser feels much like they loved the beam weapon from GW2, but wanted to avoid the horde of sniping Citrons we were plagued with before they increased it's range attenuation (drop off), which of course BfN doesn't have in gneral, so it would made an annoying class even more annoying. They nerfed it as it could be brutal early on, now it feels a bit underwhelming in multiplayer although it's decent in Ops and free roam zones.

@Iron_Guard8 The gw games took what I think tf2 also does really well where characters have roles and excel in certain areas but aren't necessarily hindered on matchups. Yeah a spy beating a heavy head to head is unlikely but never impossible or how the syringe gun has one of the highest dps in the game behind the minigun, unlike overwatch were character matchups usually get cut in half by what character your playing. The engineer/chomper and citron/mech dynamic is weird but it does work so I'm not complaining.

I remember the founders navel laser that could shred space stations.
