I think that a Black-Eyed on turn 2 is pretty good against Trick decks, and Sportacus on turn 3 is even BETTER. The fact that it has 3 attack puts it in the dead range of killing tricks (Rolling Stone kills a plant with 2 or less, and Rocket Science kills a plant with 4 or more.)
Talking a little bit about what you are saying, messing up with zombie effects, I don't think it's necessary.
Plants already have a way to kill gravestone zombies, and another one to reveal them. And... that's pretty much it. Zombies don't have super unique characteristics like plants do.
Deadly? Sure. There are only 3 zombies with deadly. (without counting the Super Stench superpower). And you can easily counter it with a team-up plant.
See, both parties have their things.
Plants have team-up characteristics, and zombie players aren't complaining about it.
Plants have the freeze characteristic (even an AoE one), and zombie players aren't complaining about it.
Speaking about AoE, some plants have Splash Damage or AoE attacks, and zombie players aren't complaining about it.
The game is balanced, you just need to know how to play around it.
And since you brought up deadly... how many plants have bonus attacks every turn? Well, they still got a card.
Also, plants have 1 card that deals with gravestones, nobody carries it because if they don't have gravestones, it's truly a useless card. Can the same be said for bonus bucket?
I do play around it. I'm just saying plants have no strategy killer single cards like zombies. Its time to get some. (And the game was balanced enough before, that they weren't necessary. Its just good to have cards that introduce new mechanics... ... but that goes for both sides)

I would agree about black eyed and sportacus, but they can be killed by a trick the turn they're played...Sportacus can't be killed instantly by a trick. It needs to have it's attack lowered to be killed by Rolling Stone or have it's attack increased to be killed by Rocket Science.

Well, they still got a card. The point here is that the plants can easily kill you with their bonus attacks without any counter-measure. Re-Peat Moss + Blazing Bark + Berry Blast = (2 +4) + [3 + (2 +4)] = 15 damage. Your hero is almost dead with just 7 suns.
Just to compare some numbers, Wall-Nut Bowling may do a potential 18 damage if ALL the ground lanes are empty. And that costs 10 suns.
(And that is without counting that the Moss still attacks after the zombies tricks. If the zombie can't kill the Moss, that is another 6 damage direclty to the face.)
The zombie hero may be dead in just one turn even if the plant hero have an empty board.

Can the same be said for bonus bucket? You still have a 2/1 amphibious plant. You can use it to kill MOST amphibious zombies (Dolphin Rider, Snorkel Zombie, Impfinity Clone, Octo-Pet, Fishy Imp, Toxic Waste Imp).

I suppose they will introduce an anti-characteristic for every characteristic in the game. For example, if they release a big amount of armored zombies and that becomes the new meta, you can bet they are gonna release something to counter it. (Maybe a Magnet-shroom)
The point is that, at least right now, I don't think that zombies have that immense power that NEEDS a card to counter them.
- 9 years ago@Azombioso i think you're forgetting zombots wrath... ... and bungie plumber (up to 4 damage turn 2, can kill blackeyed)
And you can say that repeat can do that. It can. I do it often... tombstones shut that $#!t down. No exceptions lol. Its also the reason i always point to valk. Same. Exact. thing.
I think we both agree nothing is really op. But, i'd like to see more equality put into effect stoppers on both sides.- 9 years ago
@daalnnii You're right, I totally forgot about Zombot's Wrath. MB.
Yes, I'm telling you that I think that eventually, all characteristics are going to have a counter.
They released Spyris for the gravestone zombies, and Bonus Track Buckethead for that bonus attack based plants.
Is one for each side, and I think that's fair.
But, who knows?
Maybe the next set of event cards will include one that make zombies unable to play tricks, or one that makes zombies inmune to freeze.
