Acorn is way OP

I mastered this char back when everyone used oak but have been getting hammered by acorns since last update...played 2 games last night and 2 games in I already had 13 streak with no deaths playing only acorn...this confirms what I've been seeing that this isn't a skill char.

Acorn's shooting is too fast, accurate, combined with super speed so you never know where it is, and health upgrade to 125.  I could tell players felt helpless against me.

Allstars shouldn't fear acorn one on one this is all sorts of wrong.

Nerf this char so it's an annoyance at best and oak is the one to fear.

  • The health buff for acorns is too much. +50 health on a 75 health character? People complained about Imps a lot in GW2 (not just the mechs) but while acorns can't double jump they are small targets with that dash that makes then difficult to track and hit, the buff to their main weapon made it a bit too good, and indeed, changing to an Oak is almost a downgrade right now as Oaks are huge targets, can't sprint, and aren't exactly speedy.

Acorns need to be viable outside of being an Oak, but I would have to agree that they feel too good right now.

  • @mikepal19  I meant any turbo device but understand what you’re on about.  I wish a person could only jump 2-4 times (while shooting) and then some type of cool down would be applied.  I also think making bunny hop jumps reduce in height the more you jump could be an alternative.

The way things are now, unless a person is willing to use a cheating method/device, they’re at a supreme disadvantage.  Sucks.

Oh - if it tells you how opposed I am to jumping, I ONLY FOUND OUT LAST NIGHT SPACE CADET CAN DOUBLE JUMP!  🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️😂

The station can double jump too. I found out about her double jump when getting stuff done in Weirding Woods back in founders.

Bunny hopping has been an issue in many (not all) PvP shooters since the original Quake when people found out that you can go further and faster by doing it. But, it's definitely worse in some games than others. Bunny hopping Peashooters have been a thing since GW1. I've dealt with bunny hopping snipers in TF2 and let me tell you, even though their hit box isn't that small, getting head shot by someone leaping around like they're on hot coals is one of the most obnoxious things I've seen in these games.

An Acorn player that is good at hitting their targets while jumping around like a loon is a major pain to deal with. If your character lacks AoE abilities this can be even worse. Nightcaps and Imps can do this too but they're not as bad as they're both at least a bit easier to hit.

  • @Iron_Guard8  I learned that THIRTY MINUTES LATER... geez, I'm dense.  Thanks for mentioning the Station double jumping, too.

So as not to venture off-topic too far, I'll start a thread about this tomorrow/Sunday.  I have footage of different versions of hopping that need to be addressed.  As for other shooters, I don't mind map-tricking, swoocing, etc.... there's SKILL in that.  There's NO SKILL in someone abusing a small/non-existent hit box with a turbo button (all due respect, can't add laughing smilies and thumbs up from laptop).

I didn't notice this issue until I really got into PvP with BfN.  Community portals and Ops, this is non-existent for the most part.  TV and TT, it's not as bad.  BA, it's pretty horrible and more and more people are starting to do it.  Heavy aim assist, jump like a crackhead, spam, spam, spam, and taunt.  It's all the rage.

    =]

@spIash_damageOk maybe we were talking about to different things. altered hitbox in combination with a turbo controller... Can't really say i encountered that. But the jumping acorn (whose are truly skilled in doing it) is a big problem.

Oh I saw that, Mr. Gormey, I saw!

Like a kid with any first time experience, I recorded my first match with the knowledge of jumping, double-jumping, and gliding and will post it for your amusement, if I can find it.

    Just.... LoL.  (heavy facepalm)
