advice on cactus and corn please

I recently maxed out another pea variant and I am ready to take a break from that class.  I have a few questions that I'm hoping some of the more experienced players can help me with.

I want to try out cactus even though they are nerfed 24/7.  I have low experience as a sniper and honestly no real idea how to play a cactus.  I did max out bandit cactus but he doesn't play like a traditional cactus, I played her more of a mid range run and gun type.  My question is what traditional cactus is the most accessible and fun to play.  I have them all unlocked, I'm thinking fire or power?  I don't know, I see the pink cactus with energy balls a lot.  Also which of the mines are best?  the potato mines or the mini mines?  I pretty much only play turf take over so base your opinions on that.

Same with Corn, what's the most fun.  I mean mobcob looks the coolest but I don't see how his ability is that useful.  I have all but party corn unlocked and none mastered.  What is the most fun and accessible corn for a corn noob.  again I pretty much live in turf take over.

Please notice I said "fun and accessible" and not over powered.  If a fun and accessible class happens to be OP then it is, but if not I'd rather have fun and ease of gameplay.

thanks for your help in advance!

  • I enjoy playing the fire variants of both the cactus and corn.

With the cactus remember to lay down potato mines in strategic positions. You won't believe how many people still step on these.

The corn can do a lot of damage especially when you get some upgrades. So, single out a zombie and blast away!

I usually play fire cactus as its easier to kill those damn imps. With the fire damage you can usually kill them in 2 shots which is a big plus as its pretty tricky to hit them with any cactus. As for corn i play either normal corn or barbeque theres not that much difference tbh. Pops corn and mob corn are a bit trickier to play.

Adding on to what you said

Pops Corn is the sniper variant, usually you should hold zoom, aim for the head, and hold down the fire button to continue bursting shots

Mob Cob is again aim for the head, and he has a big magazine already so no need to stop firing.

Cactus overall can do some serious damage at long range, always be on a lookout against any threats like Scientists since some may plan to go after you for lacking the abilities to escape and have terrible hip fire accuracy.
The Potato Mines are very helpful when placed well since not only it can do tremendous damage it can alert you and everyone else if getting flanked. I recommend using Potato Mines over the nuggets.
Tallnuts are tricky to use, but they do help getting to high ground that is impossible for a Cactus to do so. (Additionally, it can block off Energy Balls during the last objective in Moon Base Z) I prefer Iron Maiden when it can protect you against stuff like ZPGs or Imp Punts. (You can still climb over one as well)

    Now for the variants:

Fire Cactus has Fire damage that Scientists and Imps can't handle, but the penalties go to impact damage and reloading is slightly slow.

Electric Cactus has Electric damage good enough to take out grouped up targets and slightly faster fire rate, but it the same penalty as Fire Cactus.

Ice Cactus has Ice damage that freezes the target, but same penalty as Fire Cactus.

Future Cactus (my favorite) has 3 charging levels and very good accuracy at any range. Each charges increase your damage dramatically while the uncharged shots have a fast fire rate, 2nd for having twice more damage with 15 splash damage, and 3rd for 5 times more damage with the splash radius and damage twice effective. She doesn't have an effective penalty really, but the players will hate you if very good at aiming.

Camo Cactus is a heavy hitter with high magnification aim, your shots pierce through 1 target, and a ×2 critical hit multiplier. The penalties however are harsh for having the worst hip fire accuracy, low ammo pool, slow rate of fire, it affects the aim sensitivity greatly when zoomed, and very slow reloading time.

Bandit Cactus is more of a medium range class with Gatling Needles. She is not as superior as most variants to me.

Jade Cactus has increased health at the cost of her speed. Her shots isn't as powerful as any other Cactus, but it does have splash damage to clear off the zombies.

Zen Cactus is also a heavy hitter. Every ammo you spend increases the damage by 10, it also has splash damage. The orbs floating around does make you an easy target however.

Petrified Cactus is the same as Jade Cactus. The difference is that she shoots eggs that can be detonated at anytime before impact which does help against those in cover and multiple targets. She is tricky to play when you have to be good at knowing when to detonate.

Would have recommended basic cactus, but fire and power cactus work as well, especially as the latter actually got a buff.

Potato mine, always. The mini mine are just super bad and should never be used.

Mob cob is decent, use it for longer range combat, but it can still hold in his own in close range. To be fair though, every corn work. BBQ corn is kinda the easiest to use but...Maybe he's too noobish hue.
