All unlocked & purchased characters have disappeared on PvZ Garden Warfare 2

Where are all my unlocked characters??

Yesterday I played PvZ Garden Warefare 2 on our play station 5 with no issues. Today, 19th February 2023, all of my unlocked characters including all my purchased characters have disappeared!

I assume this is a bug in the game because my husband has exactly the same issue on his own profile. Two completely different profiles, with the same issue. We have a PS4 console and a PS5 console, and we also checked both our profiles on both consoles and the same problem exists.

My player rank is still there, and certain things like the XP I earned yesterday (I went from XP x1.00 to XP 2.00 last night) but now all my stars and rainbow stars are missing, and no characters other than the basic ones are there. Except, on the basic characters it has retained the level. For example the basic peashooter is still on Master level. And even though it LOOKS like the abilities are locked, from the customisation booth, if I select ´customise´, and then Abilities I can see the unlocked abilities like dark Bean Bomb etc.

If I check the Peashooter Stats or the Chomper Stats, there are these random empty pots that clearly indicate a levelled up character.

This is extremely frustrating as a lot of time and money over the years has gone into investing in this game and investing in the characters! I hope this issue can be sorted ASAP!
