An idea to stop zombie timer trolling

We've all come up against it at some point. A zombie player upset because they're getting destroyed, so the run both timers out, every turn, until the end of the game.

My idea to at least make it more bearable, is to give them one time for both phases. Plants get only one for playing both trucks and minions; why not do the same for zombies? One timer, use as much s you like during minion phase, run it out if you like; but if you do, you get no trick phase. If you use half your time for minion phase, you have half left for trick phase, etc.

Thoughts?

As a full time zombie I don't have a problem with that as long as you are given some sort of timer to show you the total time.
Sometimes the opponent pounces on you with the hopes of overwhelming you and get lucky and end the game this turn, and I have to admit I have sat there a few times right to the final second trying to figure out how to survive without actually just prolonging the suffering.
But I have total empathy for the plant heroes that have to go through what the OP described, and I have no doubt that there are players who purposely stall as part of their strategy and maybe even win because the actual winner gets too frustrated to wait out a game with an ignoramus

Whenever I get an opponent that does that, I just load up a Youtube video and do the same thing.

    Hahaha
    * for tat, I like it!
  • I've been playing a lot more plants than I used to, specially for the event bonus tickets.

I'm not 100% sure since it doesn't happen to me quite often, but I think that the trick timer is cut in half if the zombie heroe uses the whole turn timer on the zombie phase.

(Or at least it seems to me that way, that it is shorter than when a zombie player uses their times properly.)

I don't know, but I think that this is a good punishment.

Cut in half the next phase if the timer runs out completely/reaches the red zone.

    Like:

-Zombie Phase: 20 seconds (for example)

    -Trick Phase: 10 seconds

    -Zombie Phase 2: 5 seconds

    etc

    -Trick Phase 2: 2 seconds

I used to play mlb: dugout heroes and in multiplayer games if a player pitching did that, wait and wait for the timer and they got 3 warnings and the "warnings" also came with a beach ball down the middle for the other guy to crack outta the park.
Third warning or time used till end meant same as a disconnect and other guy wins.

I know that could still be manipulated by your trolls, but maybe if the time was also cut in total, and if its not, then zombies should have same amount of time allowed as plants...over both phases. So if thats half and half or 2/3rds and 1/3rd or however they have it, but I think we can all agree on that.

Think I've mentioned it before.  Kungfu Panda: Battle For Destiny would once you used the max amount of time (~20 seconds) on your turn (say turn 1), your next turn (say turn 2) you only have 5 seconds to make your move.  Was quite motivating when you were indecisive or not paying attention.

Some games can get pretty intense and those games near the end, sometimes require a lot of thought. Also then if something like this is implemented, they would have to(or at least should) shorten the animations when a zombie comes in and has a when played effect.
I agree that it needs addressing and hopefully can be quashed for the most part, but new players who are trying to figure out what all their cards do, or little tykes who maybe just started reading and is playing with dad, or just the regular players that may have lots to do with a turn, shouldn't be penalized for the ignorance of others.

Maybe if they did a compromise of sorts, and have it implemented in league play only and casual who play at own risk so to speak

I think that a lot of new players that have to still look at a card to know what it does may give up on the game if suddenly they have the figurative "gun to their head" while trying to survive another turn.

And yes I am aware that they can learn in random battle and not multiplayer, that isn't the point. I know that it's annoying, but casual battle should be able to be just that.
