Arcane enigma and arcane lotus

Arcane enigma-default (gw2 and bfn)

Gw2 description:

Only Rose could make transforming into a being of pure, invulnerable, damage-dealing energy seem so easy.

Bfn description:

Become invulnerable and cast speed aura, boosting team move speed.

Gw2: rose twirls before becoming pure energy that is immune to damage and allows her to move faster. It has a 35 second cool down.  It lasts 18 seconds but rose can fire a blast of energy that takes 25% of the energy used allowing only four blasts. It deals 20 damage each blast.

Rose becomes energy while twirling and provides a radius which provides a speed boost to herself and all plants close enough. It lasts 10 seconds with a 60 second cooldown but if you speed up allies it recharges faster.

Carpool:

Longer duration of Arcane Enigma when more allies are sped up.

Increases the duration of Arcane Enigma by up to 90% when more allies are sped up. Maximum duration can be achieved when at least 4 allies are within the effect of Arcane Enigma

Epiphany: Start regenerating health while in Arcane Enigma.

Arcane lotus-special

Gw2 description:

​Rose alters her magic slightly, allowing her to transform into a being of pure healing.

Rose transforms into a differing look from acrane enigma and now heals allies. Activating the ability heals rose for 35 health and also gradully heals allies around it for 4 health. Lasts 9 seconds and has a 35 second cooldown.

In gw2 its a nice defensive ability that suits rose vut in bfn it feels like a cheap escape as she herself speeds up. In Bfn allies have to constantly stay near her therfore endangering themselves to enemy fire. Compare this to hovergoay who could activate his ability but than his teamates were free to choose where to go. In Bfn the boost is only as effective as the rose will allow it to be for you. The healing upgrade also feels pretty cheap. In gw2 you had a narrow timeframe to ehoot rose as she twirled but now its almost instant.

No problems with arcane lotus and imo it should have been in bfn rather than a screwy arcane enigma.

  • I saw someone on the Reddit complain about GW2's arcane enigma making you invulnerable but you can still attack. This is puzzling to me, because despite not being able to attack with it in BfN, BfN's version is far, far more annoying to deal with, especially with the epiphany buff making it beyond obnoxious to deal with. Electric Slide has a similar upgrade for outta fight that I find to be maddening to deal with, but we'll get to that when you post about it.

    In GW2, yes you can attack in enigma form, but it's point blank, doesn't do all that much damage per burst, and that drains its mana so you can't get far with it, I don't think you can even get 4 if you move even a little bit, and it's far better to use against AI, especially at the flag of power, or to get out of danger rather than as an attack; if you manage to get all 4 pulses you can barely take out an Imp (80 vs. 75 for no health upgrade). Roses that do use it aggressively in multiplayer tend to get taken out shortly thereafter, it's not good at attacking, it's meant to get you out of there and to give you enough damage so that zombies won't get too close while you do.

    Lotus got a needed buff early on and I've mostly switched to it. I love that I can hang around allies, healing them while also healing myself for using it, and I can't be hurt for a bit. Of course, you still have to be wary of getting taken out .5 seconds after it wears off!

    In BfN, I do like that you can speed up allies, but it lasts a very long time and is too good for what it is thanks to that and again, if you also have epiphany, it's just frustrating to deal with.

    In a new game, I'd be fine with them nerfing the damage of the old enigma while adding speed boost to allies and not letting it last as long as BfN, while also NOT having stuff like epiphany, with lotus being an alternate ability that doesn't need any changes or at least not much of any.

    @Iron_Guard8 I swear the gw reddit community does not understand balance or game design in the slightest, especially around gw2 (not saying there aren't problems because there are). They act on a mentality of anything that kills me is op, ignore how I charged in like an idiot at 5 health and got myself killed in a fight I would never have won anyway. Every ability would be trash if they had their way, I mean there are people who think engineers gw1 sonic grenade was op despite that being literally the only thing that stops him from being bulldozed by chompers and the ten bunnyhopping peashooters on wallnut hills.

    I prefer lotus as I often want to help my team as much as possible while improving my own survivability.

    They should either revert it, create a alt ability that just buffs speed without invulnerability, or just create a new plant whose job is actual support like a plant hovergoat.
