stickies do 50 dmg. they're not much of a problem.
Thats like saying a Rogue in Wow deserves the kill because he suprised you.
50 is alot of dmg.
- 9 years agoIn all honesty if certain Scientist variants are allowed to get you at Point Blank range your chances of surviving are, at best, 50/50 with some characters and worse with others.
Not to be rude but the key to surviving a Scientist attack is to keep good situational awareness; don't just charge around, pause to look around for enemy locations and pay attention to audio cues.
While I get vanquished by Scientists who manage to sneak up on me by stopping occasionally to check my situation and surroundings I'm able to vanquish them quite often before they see me or before they can reach me.
I know it's really easy to just fall into the rut of Spawning and then immediately charging off towards the enemy but you can really improve your survival time by taking the occasional moment to look around and also listen.
One of the benefits of investing playtime with both the Plants and the Zombies and not favoring one class is that you can get really familiar with the sounds associated with each one.
I've been saved numerous times because I heard the launch sound of a Soldier's Rocket Jump which told me one was camping up high to the side of me, or the giggle of an Imp running around to flank me. There is not a single character who moves silently- every one giggles or grunts or mutters to themselves as they move so if you can't see them coming sometimes you can hear them.- 9 years ago
Thankyou for the advice, but the Scientists that has usually killed me are running around shooting wild around just massacre everything they see. One example is the forest area in Zombopolis. They love to run around, and its not me ( can only speak for myself ) running off into enemy line.
Tbh I usually dont see the Sci. if I go offensive. They are mostly killing us when running around among us. And it seems often they arent taken out because there is basicly no time because they suprise ppl and kill them so fast.
I know the sound of the teleport. Heard it many times. But by the time you hear it its usually to late. I do try to keep eyes everywhere.
Still it remains that the Sci. imo should not have all these abilities. Mainly because he is designed to be a healer. If he is to keep them then they should buff how fast the Sunflower
kills players. Her Sunbeam is out of the question, it roots you and you are an easy target. If she wants to kill someone then she has to empty pretty much her whole gun into someone.
Im sure sunflowers would love be more offensive.
This is a very common sight. And it shouldnt look like this. How often do you actually see Sunflowers on 3/4 ?
I for sure usually see these guys than a flower.- 9 years ago
The three Scientists shown n your screenshot are the Marine Biologist and the Chemist; both are widely acknowledged to be the most dangerous Scientists at close range an if a crafty and skilled player can get them into the middle of a group of Plant players who didn't see them coming it can easily result in a massacre.
It can be difficult, especially with Scientist players who know what they are doing, and nobody is denying that but the Scientists don't always have the upper hand. Case in point just this morning I was working on getting two Rose variants up to Master, the default and the Toxic variety, on Turf Takeover. The Zombie team featured at least three or four Scientists and while they did well over the three or four games I played I was able to vanquish most of the group more often then they got me- many of our shootouts occurred while they were actively heading in my direction as Rose is generally an easy vanquish if a Scientist can get in close but a lot were me catching them off guard from a distance.
In the games where I know that a Scientist is flanking around behind our lines looking for easy ambushes I personally try to counter that by hanging back behind the main team to see if I can catch which route it being used and generally speaking if you can catch them in the act of coming around the flanks a few times, either by shooting them at a distance, flanking them, or coming up behind to ambush the ambusher you can sometimes get them to back off on the aggressive play; either that or have them specifically start coming after you.
As far as Sunflowers being on the Boasting Pedestals at the end of the game, I've been there many times with various Sunflowers not only with Revive or Healing Boasts but also with the largest Streak or Most Vanquishes as well. Once you level up your Sunflowers to get the reload, ammo and damage upgrades if you have good aim, decent tactics and engage the enemy at the proper range it's not that difficult to be one of the top performers overall in terms of vanquish count or overall score.
At the end of the day the it's my belief that the characters are pretty decently balanced; the factor which can turn almost any character into a game breaking monster is the individual level of experience and skill the person playing that character has available and whether or not the opposing team either has someone who can serve as an effective counter to that sort of player or can group together effectively to neutralize them.
