are pvz gw1 pc servers dead?

i got the game when it was on sale not long ago and i've been playing it a lot because i want to get to max rank before going to the next game, but when i try to connect to the game servers, it just tells me "error, Failed to recover your backup data" and then "would you like to continue without saving?", so basically i can't level up or anything because my progress isn't being saved so whatever i do ingame doesn't matter. its been a week and i really hope they're thinking of fixing this.
