Sounds like your NAT type is set to strict. Can you check your router and make sure you have an open Nat type . Google Nat strict and you will find help. If you have a strict Nat type you will only connect with others that have a strict Nat setup. Mist of the world has open Nat but can somtimes change. You will have much better time on a open Nat. Just check your router.
