Best Rose Deck... so far.
Season 2 has been a different ball game altogether. I've had to edit my primary deck quite a bit. At first it was easy since no one had environment cards. I swept up my league pretty fast. But high level play is a different ball game. This deck went through a lot of changes to find out what worked and what didn't. Now my win rate is pretty high (I think about 70-80%). I'll go over the strategy of how this deck is played.
- I did a primary focus around 3 attack damage as 3 is the magic number that plants cannot be destroyed by any destruction card in the game. This keeps you safe approx. 60-70% of your game outside of direct damage trick cards.
- I kept suffering from fighting rushdown decks so I had to increase the number of 2 cost cards. From my many wins and losses I found Apple-Saucer & Fume-Shroom to be the best cards to combat rushdown decks.
- Planet of the Grapes provides insurance against enemy environment cards that are played at 2 brains. I usually hold them until the 2 brain phase has ended. Your opponent usually plays a zombie by turn 3 so keep that in mind. This card also gives Fume-Shroom early pressure on your opponent since you'll be guaranteed to draw another card if he stays alive to combat phase. I recommend either placing PotG in the 3rd or 4th lanes, but never the 2nd lane unless your opponent places one there first and you're countering them. The 2nd lane is reserved for Venus Flytraplanet.
- Water Balloons are a must now. I've tried having them off and on many times. Different amounts, but 4 of these are a staple. They help against your rushdown 1 health zombie cards in the beginning, and passed 6 brain phase helps shutdown decks that don't have attack boosting cards (like Professor Brainstorm).
- Taco + the healing death loop everyone and their mom is aware of. This wins you games left and right. Always, always, ALWAYS place the Venus Flytraplanet in the 2nd lane (the first environment lane). In the late game I've lost a handful of times because I wasn't able to heal fast enough for the first 2 lanes doing hidden damage when they beefed up their attack power in the zombie trick phase. Pretty nasty.
- One of my favorite new cards is Sportacus. They patched him so when he dies he still does 2 damage. More and more zombie players are going 70+% trick cards so you're going to really accelerate here. I've had one game where I had 2 Sportacuses out at the same time and my opponent literally killed himself. He went through 2 block meters and about 16 health. I don't know if he wanted to kill himself or what, but it was too funny. One of my favorite games ever played. I like to place him on a Planet of the Grapes so he does 2 damage per trick and also draws you a card.
- Leaf Blower is interesting as he also has 3 attack power, but also w/ Amphibious. Remember that this is the safe attack power to be at so playing him on water is safe unless you're up against a Rustbolt. The trait Bounce is great against Valkyrie or other cards that benefit from building up attack power while in the hand.
- Wing-Nut. One of my favorite new cards. You know how many times someone has played a frenzy card or used Lurch for Lunch, thinking it would do a double attack? I've had players use Electrician and thought the bonus attack would go off. I'm guessing Wing-Nut is not a popular card since too many players have wasted lots of cards that do double attacks. Even Vimpire can't go further than destroying the first plant. I also JUST beat a Professor Brainstorm Valkyrie deck. He put it out in the trick phase, but didn't bother using Lurch for Lunch since he saw my Wing-Nut on the field. It had 10 attack damage. Enough to kill me. During my turn I turned it into a goat, lol!
- Brainana over Sportacus if your opponent doesn't play any zombies and has a lot of brains. Always choose Brainana over Sportacus. Place him in the water 24/7 (unless your up against Rustbolt). Shut down your opponent in trick phase and do it again if you get back to back Brainanas.
- Sap-Fling is the newest event card. It takes away 3 attack power from your enemy zombie cards. I usually use this on my Wing-Nut's lane. I place Wing-Nut in the 4th lane and then put my Sappy Place environment card on him to protect him. Or, if you're opponent has a ton of trick cards, place a Sappy Place over your Sportacus for continuous annoyance.
- I just got Three-Headed Chomper. I like him, but he could be switched out depending on your preference. He's helped me a couple of games.
- The Great Zucchini is a good slow down until your can get your health back up through a Venus Flytraplanet. Shuts down any strategy your opponent had.
- Cornucopia. Lifesaver.
Have fun w/ this deck! 🙂
