Boss discussion: baron von bats

Baron von bats

Bfn description: This fights gonna bite!

Gw1: A hat appears in the sewers. Thunder can be heard there. Suddenly, the baron appears from the hat and shoots a bat beam from his golden staff. Then, he summons four Vampire Zombies around himself and goes in front of them, pushing one of them from the right with the staff and then other from the left with the hand. He says: "I want Brains!" and then disappears in a cloud of bats, saying: "Bye-bye!" His fight now begins and he only has a legion of vampire zombies in this fight.

Gw2: same as before but with changes to the boss: He no longer teleports instantly after summoning Vampire Zombies.

He moves much faster.

He can heal himself more when attacking a plant at close range, making him a tougher threat.

He can now be damaged as soon as he begins teleporting.

He twirls his wand when using the Bat Beam.

He no longer teleports when escaping the Chomper's Chomp

.

Bfn: Now has a white moustache. Golden staff is now silver. Has a elite wave where bats will drain your health at 2hp a second. You must move to a bat sapper before time runs out and you are vanquished. Repeat this as many times as necessary until you wind or lose. He summons a trio of bucketheads instead of vampires.

Warp Dodge: Teleports away a short distance to avoid attacks from the Plants.

Bat Warp: He spins and suddenly disappears in a cloud of bats. He will reappear at another spot after a while. Says "bye-bye" while activating.

Vampire Summoning : Baron Von Bats summons three Vampire Zombies.

Bat Beam: Baron Von Bats holds still and fires a laser which damages plants caught in it.

Vampirism: A short-range bite attack which deals 20 damage, and this will restore 55 of his health points. 150 in gw2. When he hits you he sometimes says "mmm brainz" and "you're not brainz"

Easy: 1200 HP

Normal: 1800 HP

Hard: 2400 HP

CRAAAAZY: 3000 H

Resembeles a victorian era zombie and until Bfn he only has two fangs and no other teeth.

According to the billboard in the game selection, Baron von Bats lived 1000 years ago and now is back.

In gw2 it is revealed the wand he uses is called the "Wand of Sweet Spells," However, he does not know how to unleash the wand's true power because he is stupid, according to Agent Rose. Its true power is goat magic.

Does not appear in the backyard, probably beacuse his healing would be too powerful with the abundance of weeds he could feed off of.

Is a bossfight in the pve areas of bfn.

Leads a band called the brain bats.

Added in the suburbination dlc in gw1. The only zombie boss in the series to never have appeared in a previous game.

He's a solid boss. His self heals and teleports make him more dangerous than disco but I would argue that his vampire minions are not as useful as the dancers. His elite in Bfn isn't really dangerous. Its much like sasquatch in idea but with less dangerous enemies and you only risk death if you are at extremely low health. Replacing his vampires for bucketheads just feels really lazy.

  • I remember when they added him to GW with a DLC and I finally got the achievement for a super vampire wave there just a couple years ago, which was my 2nd last achievement I needed in the original game (I still needed the 10 player vanquish in a single match with pea Gatling as I don't use it all that much, and finally got it in 2019)!

Great boss, love the silly vampire accent thing he has with the 'blah!'s, and of course he's quite challenging without being too powerful in GW and GW2, although he can really heal himself a lot, so is much rougher with AI allies instead of other players as they get drained a lot in my experience.

One of the better elite bosses in BfN's Ops, but losing the vampire zombies was a huge let down and ruined the flavor. I did enjoy dealing with him in Town Center plants a lot, but would have been even better had he had those vampire zombies with him.
