Boss discussion: Gargantuar
Gargantuar
Bfn description: "They're big, they're mean, and they wear XXXXXL jeans!"
The gigantic brute of the zombie army. He carries a telephone pole and an imp on his back in a garbage can. Resembles his pvz1 design.
Has three weapons.
Gargantuar Slam: Smashes a plant with his pole dealing 40 damage.
Pole Charge: Roars and runs at the player and then smashes dealing 40 damage. Will keep running if enemies escape or until he runs out of steam.
Gargantuar Imp: Launches the Exploding Imp from a medium distance dealing 25 damage. Bends over before firing.
His telephone pole deals electric damage and can arc between enemies.
Health:
Easy: 1400 HP
Normal: 2100 HP
Hard: 2800 HP
CRAAAAZY!: 3500 HP
Gw1: cutscene starts with a hand smashing out of the ground holding an Imp. The Imp then looks around while making small "eh?" noises. Suddenly, the Gargantuar unearths himself, roaring loudly. He then calms himself, stroking the Imp (which the Imp appears to enjoy) before putting him in his can. He then grabs his telephone pole from the ground, looking around wildly (presumably to search for plants/brains). The cutscene ends and the boss fight begins. During a Super Gargantuar Wave, Exploding Imps and Blitzers will appear often. Gains tank commanders and eventually cricket stars later on crazy.
Gw2: Gains Rugby Stars, Soldiers, Blitzers, and other All-Star variants on Crazy difficulty. Has a special house shield gargantuar that appears in elite waves that uses a bouse frame to attack.
Bfn: Elite wave is uniqur as it is the only one where you battle two elite bosses. The Gargantuar Brothers. During the wave, the Gargantuar Brothers spawn Browncoats, TV heads, Soldiers, and Engineers to chase after the players.
When a Gargantuar is vanquished, a tombstone will appear. You have to destroy the tombstone within the time limit that is added with it. If the timer runs out, another elite Gargantuar will spawn. Even if both are vanquished, the fight will still continue if there is a tombstone. Players have 10 minutes to defeat the brothers. If the time runs out, it's game over.
He has giga gargs ranged attack in bfn and is no longer a hugely aggressive Melee fighter.
First boss fought in gw2 as the sunflower escapes from zomburbia.
In the gw games this guy is a testament to the differing difficulty mode's. On easy and normal he's is kind of a pushover but on hard and crazy he will use his charge attack and run you into the ground as his damage and electrical powers pack a punch. He does have a weakness in that his ai isn't great at dealing with rooftops even with the imp as his ranged attacks are rare. If he can't deal with a rooftops enemy he will eventually ko himself and ops will proceed.
His house shield form shows up only in the backyard and on elite waves. However he's a solid boss with a solid fight as you can headshot him through a hole in the shield or destroy it to give him back his pole.
His Bfn version is kinda dissapointing as he's practically a less powerful giga. The lack of difficulty and all the mechanics that strengthen your team really reduce his effectiveness. He also seems less aggressive in his melee much like giga. Losing blitzers was also a negative as it really hammered home the combat in his waves that were brutal and fast but mainly close range combined with heavy hitters like tank commander (that 60 damage hurts a lot in gw1 with half regen).
In the backyard he's a solid boss as he can deal with Giga Torchwood and superbean if he gets close enough. His house shield version also appears here and is a buffed up version of before.
Off topic but in pvz1 he also carried a duck crossing sign and even another zombie as a weapon and while i understand why that wouldn't work in the shooters it would be a nice touch.
