Boss discussion: Zen sensei

Zen sensei

Bfn description: Practitioner of HARSH-al arts!

Dash Punch: Punches the player 3 times knocking them back. Third punch slows enemies slightly.

Sprint-Punch: Runs quickly towards the player and does a big uppercut that does about 20 damage.

Energy Ball: Charges up a yellowish ball of energy, and shoots it. It does a large amount of damage. (in bfn, the Energy Ball is shot in bursts instead).

Decoy Copy: The Sensei will perform a pose, then summons 3-4 copies. They all have the same strength and attacks, but have a small amount of health. They can only punch and fire energy balls though. Dissapear in smoke upon death.

High Jump:Jumps really high to reach higher places.

Health

Easy: 1200 HP

Normal: 1800 HP

Hard: 2400 HP

CRAAAAZY: 3000 HP

Decoy health

Easy: 150 HP

Normal: 175 HP

Hard: 200 HP

CRAAAAZY: 225 HP

Gw2: Karate Zombies will replace all regular enemies. There will be one Champion Karate Zombie in this wave.

Bfn: Every time he loses a quarter of health, he will start meditating, leaving him invincible and requiring the players to destroy the decoys. There is four the first time, five the second time, and six the third time.

Does a crane kick pose while jumping.

Does not appear in the backyard.

Fights you in fight zentrification quest where he sends reskinned decoys to man a restaurant and its basically his ops fight.

Not a hard boss. He's the melee boss of the non garg bosses and while his attacks can hurt he can often be dealt with quickly. He can get onto rooftops much like the smaller bosses so don't expect complete safety upon getting away from him.

His karate zombies are the real challenge as they hit hard and get onto the highground, they even gain a champion who has more health than you would expect and their knock back kicks can catch you off guard.

His Bfn bossfight is kinda lame as destroying decoys isn't difficult and the lack of his karate minions only makes it easier. Especially simce permadeath isn't in Bfn and you have more than enough time.

  • This guy can stun lock you in melee, causing a lot of damage and slowing you down, so in a way he's much like the Yeti boss that will freeze you at range and then run up to you and take you out, although the Sensei is not as dangerous as the yeti is here.

I loved in GW2 that they added the Karate zombies, especially when this guy was around as his minions. Their lack in BfN again shows that too much was taken away. PvZ is all about variety, even just in appearance like the pirate zombies vs. the regular ones in GW, so them taking this away removes some of the flavor and fun.

His ranged attack isn't too bad and isn't too difficult to avoid, but it hurts. His decoys can make things interesting in GW2 as they block shots and during super waves can make things a mess in a hurry.

If GW2 had kept the awesome GW boss intros, I'd love to see what they would come with for this guy!

@Iron_Guard8 I imagine it could've been like an old martial arts montage that ends with bowing while looking forward, which is a sign of disrespect in many cultures.
