@realitysquared I think a good solution would be to have multiple spawn points in each phase area of tt, then the camping would be somewhat less likely because no one would really know where it spawns in the given area.
- 6 years ago@PineapplePiano random chest spawn points might help keep players focused on the objectives but my fear is that the reduced team sizes and ease of capturing the objective already cause issues for the defenders if they aren't all totally focused on the objective and able to keep themselves and their teammates unvanquished.
Playing Devil's Advocate, it's entirely possible that if the attackers are able to get the chest to spawn and a number of defenders race off to it we could see the objective get captured faster than they can reach the chest and open it if the attackers can crush the remaining defenders because the current TT mechanics make it impossible to respawn and make it back to the fight fast enough to stop the attackers from capturing.- 6 years ago

Yep, it definitely seems different to the last time, I presume, due to all the points you talk about. I was just having a similar discussion earlier (although in not nearly so much detail 😃)
I think it could be a fun mode but tying it to the challenges makes it a much less fun experience for people and therefore they will be less likely to play it again once challenges are complete. I am just relieved that I am getting close to finishing mine.... would be so nice if we had weekly modes we all actually enjoyed and didn't feel stressed/irritated completing the quests involved..
Its a a bit weird really you would think that Popcap would want that too... to keep us playing.
I hope they address the 12v12/8v8 controversy in the live stream... its a big issue for many...
I am not a fan of the 8v8... while I didn't play TT constantly with 12v12, I definitely play less now that its 8v8, it just doesn't seem as fun. - 6 years ago
Some things I have noticed since it’s become 8v8.
-Stronger team gets the boss every time, if they choose to go for it.
-Trying to vanquish the boss before it crosses to the new objective is almost pointless when teammates are not helping. And why should they? This has happened frequently enough to know that it’s not just the lobbies I end up in.
-Having a heal challenge going the same time as this mode is just a mistake. At least starting off. It just deters people to leave a game when on the defensive side.
As said by most, I love the idea of this mode. I really don’t know what the answer is in fixing it, but currently it just seem like work to get through the challenges. Making a stronger team have even more of an advantage is just cruel. Now if everyone out there was a pro gamer this mode may work as is. That’s never going to be the case though. It may occasionally be close and fun to play, but not often enough for me to play it passed completing the challenges.
- 6 years ago@dwooten77 the (potentially) most difficult challenge is the first task of opening of the Boss Chest because there's a ton of competition to do so and only 3 potential chances to get it done- probably less due to the issues I spoke about with how and when the chest spawns. That could lead to even heavier competition for people going for the fewer chest spawns.
The second task of vanquishing a Boss can be done, but only on certain maps with a payload and only when the attacking team isn't stonewalled.
I also love the idea of the mode and it worked decently well in 12v12 Turf takeover with only a couple of tweaks needed to get the Bosses where the developers obviously wanted them.
Comparing the 12v12 BTT to the 8v8 I've played about 8 games this time around before I joined you guys for BA and saw all of 3 Bosses successfully spawn out of what should have been 24 possibilities. Mostly due to the chests in the process of being opened which get despawned because the objective was captured or when no chest spawns at all because the attackers can't even start capturing the objective.
I just can't believe that nobody thought to play test the mode after such extensive changes were done to TT.
I was lucky enough to get the first two weekly challenges done so now I just need to get the five wins and I'll be gone from this mode.
