Cactus accuracy compared to other classes

The real problem with cactus is her accuracy compared to other ranged classes.

I am so surprised no one has mentioned this or noticed. With cactus you need PINPOINT accuracy to hit (a red crosshair does not mean a hit)... especially head shots and there is no splash dmg for near misses. playing cactus or its variants and then switching to sharkbite/ranger/superbrainz is laughable. The accuracy is 10x better with sharkbite, deals MORE dmg per hit, has some splash dmg for near misses AND I can use shotgun at close range. And that is suppose to be the class mirror of cactus lol.

I don't know if you've been playing the Cactus as much as I've been (150 hours in GW1, 10 hours in GW2) , but you should never use the crosshsir as an indicator for your accuarcy. The spread of your primary weapon is minimal. Don't focus to much on the crosshair, but try to keep the head of you're opponent in the middle of the screen and focus on tracking them. Basically, if your're 75% zoomed in, you've got good chances to hit you enemy, especially with the Camo Cactus (excellent for some d4nk MlG-quickscope-mont4g3s). And as far as splash damage goes... I know some Cacti that deal splash damage: Future (Charged shot only), Jade Cactus, Petrified Cactus and Zen Cactus

I have TONS of hours as cactus and all its variants from pvz1. I had a kill ratio of over 3/1 with all variants and 5/1 with camo and future in multiplayer. TRUST me, the accuracy is terrible compared to the first game. Do me a favor... play Sharkbite variant of the pirate captain on zombies who is there sniper mirror for cactus and look at the difference in the hit ratio. Not to mention his zoom speed and scroll speed when zoomed.

  • Hum...Cactus accuracy it the same, however, his shot are a tad slower so that have to predict more where you need to shoot. I'm pretty sure pirate have the same shoot speed...For basic at least.

    And ye,sharkbite is op.

maybe its just me then. but cactus' accuracy feels very different from pvz1. When I play sharkbite, he feels like old cactus to me. also I never see cactus of any variant in accolades except first strike and sometimes streak. In pvz1 I lead in kills at least 75% of matches I played. In pvz2 he just seems to miss so often. shots go right through enemies like old school pea shots.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if Sharkbite sees a nerf in the next patch. For being the mirror of the camo cactus, he certainly outclasses her in most everything - aside from damage. A smart solution would probably to lower his clip size and his reload speed - and if that fails, reduce his fire rate.

And as for cactus accuracy, I usually jokingly blame the newer engine. But it's probably either a lowered bullet speed or a result of the larger maps. It's a little frustrating having to increase your lead when aiming - but you can adjust and adapt given time.

You're not wrong, but I'm not in favour of anymore nerfs after Rose happened. The pirate class on the whole is OP, no class except Engineer should have two counters to Chomper.

I would much rather they make the Cactus more fluid, easier to aim like the Pirate, maybe increase her health/damage as well as improve her abilities. They are weak sauce compared to Pirate. Pirate zooms in almost instantly.

  • I think what he is saying is that the target reticle for the cactus expands much quicker than deadbeard's resulting in shots missing.

If you fire at a stationary soldier in rapid session with the base cactus from long range, there is a chance the 3rd or 4th shot will miss even if he doesn't move.  Its not because of the cactus accuracy, but because the reticle has expanded reducing your chance of getting the last crit.  I always pause for a split second between the 1st or 2nd shot, so the last two don't miss. I learned this the hard way in GW1.

The reason deadbeard is more accurate is because his reticle reduces in size between shots even if you mash making his shots more accurate.  If the cactus reticle reduced in expansion between her shots or slower, she would land them more without players having to wait a split second so they all land.
