Cant connect to EA Servers?!

I just purchased my son Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare on PS4 from the Playstation store today and after downloading the game, it will not connect to EA servers. Is this a real thing? Can you not just buy a game and play it these days? What is the problem?

    @Lion_Winz Hi, I've seen some similar reports recently and I'm trying to gather some info. Can you try downloading the FIFA 17 demo and play a match, then see if this has any effect on GW.

    EA urgently needs to replace this toaster they call a server. 3dc in just 5 hours.

    If you can't keep the server running properly, shut it down and say goodbye to pvz.
