You don't have to be rude to the guy. I could say, "apparently you are illiterate so I will dumb this down for you". It's is the contraction for it is. When you write about "pushing 360 to it's limits" you are saying "pushing 360 to it is limits". I hope that wasn't too difficult for you to comprehend. Also, If the 360 is so weak why do other games like Gears of War 3 have split screen online multiplayer?????? The graphics are fine and more detailed than the cartoony PvZGW. I am starting to doubt you are tech saavy.
@AWMaxSterling wrote:Apparently you aren't tech saavy, so I'll dumb this down for you. The Xbox One has 16 times more memory than the Xbox 360. Also, the Xbox One has a Hard Drive mandatory with the system... in other words, there is no version of the Xbox One without a hard drive.
In order for this game to run on any Xbox 360, they have to take into consideration that many systems don't even have a hard drive... namely the original Arcade version as well as the 4GB slim model. This game has video quality of 900p on the Xbox One. The better the video quality of the game, the more resources it will utilize. Let's just say that even scaling back the video quality to 720p pushes the 360 to it's limits. Double that for split screen and you'd fry most 360s.
Many games can utilize hard drive space as "virtual memory" to make up for the 360s lack of it, but as I previously stated there are many systems without a hard drive. In order for 360 owners to be able to even enjoy the game, split screen had to be sacrificed because it won't even be possible without taking a major hit to the graphics quality.
To answer your question, split screen will most likely never make it to the 360 unless the new Direct X is that efficient... or the graphics quality will be barely playable.

First off, the intention wasn't hostile. It was an attempt to give an explanation to someone that is evidently non-technical simply because anyone that is technical would know the answer... but if you want to get technical, sue me for a simple typo... Apparently I have to dumb it down even further.
Gears of War 3 was created for the 360... and only the 360. It didn't have to be downscaled from a PC to work on it. It was exclusive to the 360. Therefore any and all specifications needed only to consider what the 360 system has as far as hardware. The game was created knowing that it only had 512MB of memory to work with and a graphics card that could handle 720p.
Garden Warfare was created with the Xbox One in mind. The difference between 900p and 720p is over 600,000 pixels. That's like comparing 480p Enhanced Definition TV (~300,000 pixels) with 720p High Definition TV (~900,000 pixels) video quality.
You also have a hard disc drive mandatory on the Xbox One, which allows you to have even more memory (virtual memory) and allows more processes to run concurrently. Processes like split screen, AI Zombies and Plants, even Dave's motorhome circling above.
Now when you try to make adjustments to the coding to get this game on the 360, you no longer have access to virtual memory... so you can't run as many processes concurrently. You don't have as much physical memory, so you have to make further cuts to how many processes can be run. Then you have a graphics card which isn't as powerful and wasn't really designed to handle as much as the One, so you got to make adjustments to the graphics as well. Essentially, they're cramming a dresser full of clothes into a suitcase. The dresser representing the amount of memory guaranteed to be available and the clothes representing the processes for the game.
None of that even considers the game engine (software) or the quality of the programmers creating both games.
Had they designed the game for the 360 exclusively, or had they not taken the easy way out and just completely redeveloped the game for the 360 then it would probably have been possible. I'm pretty confident in saying that Microsoft pushed to have this game out ASAP for Xbox One due to the lack of titles for the system... and the people that are playing on the 360 had to suffer for it.

Appaently you are not "reading the case savy". Sadly EA put 2-4 co-op on the back of the box..Next to online multiplayer 2-24. That is misleading to some. If you specify online next to 2-4 co-op it give the impressionboth are possible. Thats why there are questions here. If the 360 is not capable dont print it on the packaging in way that would mislead.
But your tecnical expamples are sound.. just not what is being asked about.

Actually, most games that allow local co-op will state "local co-op" or use the word "local" to let people know that it can be done on one console.
I'm looking at their website right now... http://www.pvzgardenwarfare.com/
Here's the description for the 360 version :
XBOX 360- 24-player multiplayer action: Choose your side, plants or zombies, in 24-player online battles
- Customization: Personalize your favorite plants and zombies with hundreds of unique items and customizations
- 4-player online co-op: Join forces with friends in online 4-player cooperative mode
- New plants and zombies: Powerful new plants and zombies with a huge variety of abilities
- Expansive world: Over 10 unique multiplayer and cooperative battlegrounds
- 24-player multiplayer action: Choose your side, plants or zombies, in 24-player online battles.
- Requires Xbox Live Gold and an internet connection to play
Absolutely none of that is misleading. I see nothing that would lead me to think this had any local options. To me, that's clearly an online multiplayer game only.

if you are in the store and read the backof the box it is not that descriptive. I acgree with you. THere are less educated consumers out there. IF it is online for both it should say that. online 2-4 Co-op and online mulitplayer. When that work is left off many will miss.
