Character Guide - Electric Slide!

Hi everyone,

This guide series intends to cover each of the characters with some depth and detail involved. In this guide, I will cover Electric Slide. I will add information to this guide soon, as well as to the last guide I wrote recently on Snapdragon.

For a bunch of this guide, I used the following link for some of the information, the rest of this is my own information, you can also refer to this link if you wish to know more about Electric Slide, go here: https://plantsvszombies.fandom.com/wiki/Electric_Slide.

Overview of the Character

Electric Slide is an Attack character on the Zombies faction that attacks their enemies with electricity, and has 125 health by default. It has a primary weapon that deals electrical and stun damage.

Primary Weapon

Primary Weapon: Boogie Bolt. It is a weapon that shoots electric bolts. It deals 14 damage for regular hits and 18 damage for critical hits. It has the ability to arc onto nearby enemies as well, meaning you can actually hit 2 enemies at once with a single use of this weapon. It also has the ability to briefly stun enemies if you hit them consecutively. The rate of fire of Electric Slide's primary is fast. The maximum default ammo capacity is 18.

Abilities

Funky Bouncer: This ability sends out a bouncy magnet which pushes enemies away from you, and they are lifted into the air. During this time, enemies cannot move, however they can attack and use their abilities. Some enemies can still escape with certain abilities, but they must have them recharged and actually use them in order to be able to do this. This can be really helpful for pushing enemies away from an objective, providing distance between you and your enemies, or possibly pushing them into a pit, giving you free vanquishes. You can capture lots of enemies at once, so this ability becomes useful with lots of enemies around.

Funky Bouncer Character Upgrades

  • Amplification (2 upgrade points): You can capture your enemies from further distances from the Funky Bouncer, meaning you are basically more likely to collect more enemies with each use of Funky Bouncer. This is useful if you want to collect them all, the enemies I mean. You may be able to push multiple enemies off a cliff this way, or to scatter your enemies more easily. This becomes very useful when enemies group quite heavily, but the extra capture range means that you are more likely to collect more up anyway.
  • Conduction (3 upgrade points): For each enemy you capture with Funky Bouncer, you get a cooldown reduction on your Disco Tornado of 2.5 seconds, for each enemy. If you wish to use your Disco Tornado more frequently, you can use your Funky Bouncer and this upgrade to collect as many enemies as possible each time you use this ability and reduce the refresh time of your Disco Tornado as much as possible. Try to wait until you have just used your Disco Tornado to make the most out of this upgrade.

Outta Fight!: This ability makes you invincible to all enemy attacks for a short time, with a very short delay before officially becoming invincible. This is really useful for getting out of tough situations, when being surrounded by enemies or regrouping with your allies, and you could possibly use it for a sneak attack as you become a ball of pure energy, so you may be able to sneak past some enemies. You can actually detonate your Disco Tornado during Outta Fight! if you activated the Disco Tornado beforehand, but you cannot attack in other ways, so deciding when you will get the most use out of this ability is ideal.

Outta Fight! Character Upgrades:

  • Maelstrom (3 upgrade points): While you are in your Outta Fight! state and you are inside a Disco Tornado, which does not have to be yours, you deal an additional 50 damage per second to enemies that are really close to you. This is a very effective way of dealing extreme damage to multiple enemies at once in a safe way as well, as you will also be invulnerable until your Outta Fight! ends. Activate your Disco Tornado, use Outta Fight!, then expand the Disco Tornado when you are ready and quickly stand inside it for lots of damage to enemies.
  • Defibrillated (4 upgrade points): In your Outta Fight! state, you automatically reload and continuously gain health during this ability. This is really useful when you are getting low on health, as using Outta Fight! gives you a way to heal yourself effectively without even taking damage at the time, then you can continue fighting, and this is also an effective way to reload ammo without being left vulnerable for any time. You can stay in the fight much longer this way and can use the duration of Outta Fight! to change your positioning.

Disco Tornado: This ability summons a small electric tornado that deals very small damage to enemies caught in it, however you can increase the size of this tornado and make this ability deal much more damage and more frequently by pressing the same button you would use to activate this ability again. When the ability is activated, the tornado will travel in front of you, so you can wait until enemies are caught in it to expand the tornado and deal some heavy damage. This is a really useful tool for dealing with enemy groups, and for dealing even more damage to your enemies, especially when they cluster.

Disco Tornado Character Upgrades:

  • Turbulence (2 upgrade points): Whenever an enemy takes damage from your Disco Tornado, there is a 1 in 3 chance of them getting temporarily stunned for about 1 second, which means they cannot attack or use their abilities. This is really useful for reducing the chance of an enemy escaping from the Disco Tornado, making them even more vulnerable to your attacks, as well as your allies. The frequent damage that the Disco Tornado deals to enemies while they are stuck in it will make the stun activate often. Note that you have to expand the Disco Tornado first.
  • Cooling Sparks (3 upgrade points): For each enemy you vanquish with your Disco Tornado, you get a cooldown reduction of 7.5 seconds, which means that you will be able to use this ability more frequently if you can successfully get vanquishes with it. To get these vanquishes more easily, focus on grouped enemies and enemies that are on low health for better results.  Vanquishing multiple enemies will give you access to this ability again very quickly, so if you like to make use of this ability often, this is a great upgrade to make use of.

Exclusive Character Upgrades

Electric Slide's exclusive character upgrades are as follows:

Malfunction (2 upgrade points): Every time you reload, you automatically create an electric explosion around you, which deals about 35 damage to enemies that are close to you when reloading, which gives you a way of dealing damage while waiting to fully reload. This is useful if you want to have an extra way of dealing damage to enemies, become less vulnerable while reloading or to finish off a weakened enemy that is close to you. You can manually activate this reload whenever you like, by shooting some shots, starting to reload, sprinting to cancel it, and then starting the reload again.

Jazz Hands (3 upgrade points): This upgrade is bugged and will do nothing if you use it, so equipping it will currently waste your upgrade points. I really hope this gets fixed. Here is what it is supposed to do: By dealing damage with your Boogie Bolt, you stun your enemies twice as fast, meaning you need to land less consecutive shots to temporarily stun your enemies. This is great for stopping the enemies in their tracks more often, and simply if you want to make use of landing the stun effect of your primary weapon more often.

Chain Lightning (3 upgrade points): Your Boogie Bolt can arc to an additional enemy if there are enough enemies around, which means you can hit up to 3 enemies per successful attack, instead of 2, essentially meaning more damage against groups of multiple enemies. This is really useful if you wish to be more effective against enemy groups, you want to deal more damage, or when there are masses of enemies around. The additional arcing means that you may be able to vanquish weaker enemies even more easily as well.

Jumper Cables (3 upgrade points): Your Boogie Bolt has a longer arc range, which means the electricity will spread to enemies that are spread further apart. This means that your enemies do not have to be as grouped together and you should still be able to trigger the arcing effect, even if your enemies are quite spread apart. If your enemies are trying to spread out because you are dealing grouped electric damage, you may be able to continue to successfully dealing arcing damage for longer due to the longer arc range as well.

Usefulness in Situations

General

More effective against groups of enemies, as all of your attacks and abilities benefit clustered enemies.

Reviving Allies

  • Use your Boogie Bolt to attack enemies in front of you, especially if they are grouping up.
  • Activate your Funky Bouncer before you start reviving to keep your enemies away that are in front of you.

Contesting the Objective

  • Use your Boogie Bolt against groups of enemies to try and clear them out or to spread them out.
  • Use your Funky Bouncer to push enemies out of the objective.
  • Use Outta Fight! to contest while invincible for a short time.
  • Your Disco Tornado can be activated to deal lots of damage to multiple enemies while contesting, this can be set up as you are heading back to the objective as well and then expanded inside the objective.

When Abilities are Negated

  • Attack enemies in front of you with the Boogie Bolt, and try to attack clustered enemies if available.
  • Activate Funky Bouncer before collecting an item to push your enemies away for a moment.

Tips

  • Always focus on attacking grouped enemies first where possible, because you are much less effective against single targets as it relies on being able to hit that enemy accurately. Aim for larger enemies as well because it will be easier to deal the arcing damage to their allies.
  • You could actually use your attacks and abilities to group your enemies together, for instance you can force your enemies into a Disco Tornado with Funky Bouncer, then expand your Disco Tornado for lots of damage and they may not be able to escape either.
  • Use your Funky Bouncer to push your enemies away from you when you need it, or from an objective to make it harder for your enemies. If you can push them off a cliff, enjoy your free vanquishes and take that opportunity.
  • Use your Outta Fight! if you need to retreat, but you may be able to make use of it to get closer to your enemies instead without them noticing you, because you are harder to see in your energy form. Activate your Disco Tornado before Outta Fight! if you want to deal some damage in this form.
  • Use your Disco Tornado to deal major damage to grouped enemies. Wait for it to get to an enemy group, then expand your tornado and you should be able to deal some major damage to a group of enemies this way.

These are my Electric Slide tips. Thanks for reading!
