Character Niche Improvements - Plants

I have a few short, simple rebalance ideas that I believe would improve each character in greater supporting their niche in the game.

All characters except Snipers (Cactus, Deadbeard): Add damage dropoff. Simple as that, so the damage increases don’t make them overpowered.

Peashooter: Chili Bean Bomb shouldn’t be able to be pushed around so much by enemies. Make its audio louder so people can actually hear it when it’s spawned.

Chomper: Higher health to allow for more close combat than sniping. Burrow should still have a sound, but not make it audible from halfway across the map so that people aren’t just panicking when there isn’t a Chomper anywhere nearby.

Kernel Corn: Higher damage, health increase.

Snapdragon: Reduce damage on Blue Blazes, slight damage increase on Flame Blower (1 or 2 damage) and lessen the amount of time fire lasts or decrease the amount of damage it deals. Fix the hitbox on Swoop Slam so it properly does damage where you land it.

Nightcap: Reduce the diameter of Fung Fu and slightly reduce its startup time. It should be used as a backstab ability to kill two or three tightly grouped zombies that aren’t paying attention to their surroundings.

Citron: Nothing? He’s pretty good as is.

Oak and Acorn: Hoo boy. Here we go with the Big Man and Company. Acorn himself is fine as is, however Oak and Acorn Passengers need some severe reworking. They are not nearly as rewarding or beneficial to the team as a docked Space Station is to the zombies. Increase the power of Acorn Passengers, for one. Reduce the damage on Super Sap Trap for god’s sake. Roll for Damage should have larger spread to more effectively damage groups of zombies, or should roll through (pierce) zombies to be effective like Space Station’s Crater Maker. The damage it deals is fine enough and should not be increased if something like this is implemented. All in all, Oak needs to be more team oriented rather than just “fat peashooter”.

Cactus: Potato Mines should just not have the red light on them. If anything, it should be dimmer, so an attentive player will notice them but oblivious players can still be caught off guard. The light just makes them too obvious. Fix the lag on Petal Propeller, and allow her to fly  farther and faster in order to improve escape and travel capabilities. Garlic Drone is fine as is, and buffing Cactus should cause people to not just drone camp and actually play the sniper role.

Sunflower: Reintroduce sprinting while healing in order to properly keep up with the team. Otherwise she’s fine.

Rose: I love my thorn wife. She is perfect as is.

Anyways, I just wanted to drop a few quick suggestions to see if anyone agrees with me on this topic. Certain characters need rebalancing in order to gain more use and properly fit into their niche. Feedback and discussion is greatly appreciated, I love this game and would love to see other people’s ideas as for what should improve too. I might even do a thread for zombie class discussion if this gains traction. What do you all think?

  • Personally I feel like Rose's Arcane Enigma could use a windup time like it did in GW2, and for Corn I feel like those don't seem very necessary after the recent patch, it personally seems a little bit much IMO.

Yes, but all of what I’m saying is after adding damage dropoff back to the game. If you increase Corn and Soldier’s damage another one or two units, they’ll be powerful up close and mid range but won’t be sniping across the entire map
