Chat Headset is not working for multiplayer

I've been playing PvZ for 50+ hours and the chat headset has only worked for me twice before cutting out after a short time.
I'm on the X1 and I've tried plugging in the headset before turning on the controller and launching the game, but nothing seems to work.
The mic is picking up my voice when I check in the Party App, and I don't have Kinect plugged in or anything.
Is Game Chat supposed to be selected for online multiplayer? I also tried switching between that and Party Chat, but still no success.
I read other people reporting this issue since the game launched, so has anything official been addressed?

  • Have you already read the FAQ made by EA_Nils in the forums here? This is his solution to the problem:

Unable to hear friends or use VoIP in Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare

    Spoiler

    To avoid this issue:

    • Ensure that you are not in a party chat with your friends when starting the game.
    • Ensure that your headset is plugged in when you start the game.
    • Do not plug your headset in part way through a match.

If you encounter the issue, please do the following:

    • Close the game.
    • Ensure that you are not in a party chat with friends.
    • Plug in your headset.
    • Re-enter the game with the headset plugged in.
    • Enter gameplay with headset plugged in.

If all else fails, please turn off the console. Then turn the console on, plug in your headset and launch the title.

Did it work out for you?
