Citron nerfed too hard

After playing both the beta and the full release game, I have concluded that they have nerfed Citron a bit too hard. They originally designed him to be a mobile tank that can help defend or make a push with his team. But now that they have drastically nerfed his shield and primary weapon, he can barely survive anything. I find myself often trying to block damage for my team and trying to go after the objective, but every time I try my shield will be almost instantly shot down, and then I have only seconds before I get mowed down without a chance to defend myself because my weapon has overheated about three times by this point. What is the point of a tank that can't properly take damage? I want him to be restored to beta status, but with a smaller max hp pool on the shield and a small decrease on how long he can fire his gun. They were looking in the right direction, but took the nerfing too far to the point of near unplayability. Thank you for putting up with my rant and would like to hear other opinions.

(P.S. For some reason Gravity/Sonic grenades as well as reviving and interacting with objectives will disable the shield and it doesn't make sense.)

  • He barely even got nerfed compared to beta, the only nerf he got is his weapon overheating a bit faster and his shield having slightly less health.

In my personal opinion, I agree with the OP. Their shield is generally mowed down in about 2-3 shots from an average weapon. Citrons for me is a really easy target.

You guys do realize that on top of that 25 health shield, he has 200 health, right? Tied for the highest in the game, if you take the Zombies health and average it out, the average is 132 health, so, with his shield, he has 93 more health than your average zombie......

Maybe he is a little weaker with his damage, considering he has much more health than your average zombies, and much greater mobility, I'm not so sure there's an actual problem there....

But with him being such a big target, that 200 hp is quickly melted away and you usually live with like 50 hp to spare. Once that shield is gone, considering how chaotic things usually are, you die or escape with little health to spare. He needs to be buffed so he can actually fill his tank role like they are trying to balance rose to be a support like they meant her to be instead of a primary damage dealer with high CC ability.

stock citron is perfect the way it is. He's very strong actually once you unlock all his perks. Party citron could use a nerf though, its able to use its beam way too long.

Pughugger45, as opposed to the person who died, I would say those 50 hps look pretty damn nice to the person you just killed..... There's one zombie that starts out with 50 hps....

Do you see the problem here with your logic? You don't like that you usually only survive with 50 hps.... you, SURVIVED, meaning, you just won the fight, your statement would imply that you live more often than you die....

I'll tell you the Citrons I steam roll, and the ones who roll me. The Citron who runs around alone, thinking they are one man wrecking crews, I love them. The ones who run way ahead of their friends, making themselves easy targets, love them.

The Citron that stays next to his friends, I hate them. They have incredibly high hps/survival compared to every other plants, so I either try to kill their friends, just to get nuked down by the Citron, who then revives his friends that I killed, or, I engage him, who has enough hps to outlast my Brainz, he EM's my spin, and I then die, quickly.

The other Citron I hate is the one who zips around in ball form into my team, he ball spins around, burning up cooldown after cooldown to then have his team engage right afterwards, at which he picks a target, spins into them, flattens them, then engages while his team is also engaging.

There are great Citrons, and horrible Citrons, if someone thinks he's weak, they are most likely one of the bad Citrons. While, it's true, he's no Rose, it takes skill to play him and to do well with, those who are good with him, are a pain in the ever loving rear of Zombies everywhere. But, he's not weak, by any stretch of the imagination.

To be honest I think that citron is not to badly nerfed. He does suck depending on which one you choose in my opinion. While everyone is talking about how op rose is how about the electro brains? His beam and everything about him is op. He can chain lightning and kill people almost instantly. When multiple people use him your dead almost immediately.

What I say about surviving with that 50 hp, I am talking about when I have to book it out of there because zombies are all targeting me. But I have to give you props. You gave the best advice about playing the class that I love. While I still don't like his shield having so low health and hope that they include that in the balancing that they will release soon, I'll try playing him more as a distraction class than the tank I learned to play in the beta. Thank you.
