I had bought the Digital Deluxe version too, although it wasn't nearly as expensive are it was for you. Do you live in Canada or Australia? It was $80, and no I don't think in the end it was worth it at all. There's no season pass or anything which some games come with at the deluxe level, and I simply don't know what's in store for the future of this game in terms of updates or expansions. I like the game, don't get me wrong. I always liked the original too. It's a very unique game, and has some great ideas. But unfortunately some of these things are not fully fleshed out, and/or have bad bugs attached to them. The Infinity Time bug that crashes your game was so incredibly annoying. It happened several times in a row. Hours wasted with no reward or anything, and there's absolutely no word on that ever being fixed. None.
The unbalance of the new variants bothers me as well. I know they made all of the new classes and the new variants more powerful than a lot of the older ones to kind of prove that they have more to offer in GW2, and to make it "worth" the full price of admission. But in the end there are way more of the older characters than new, and that leaves a lot more characters not being played. Also they didn't even take the time to flesh out the new classes. All of the new classes only have 1 ability. They spent more time with the older characters when they made the first GW, and it cost less money. So I don't understand why such little effort was put in to the new classes. They all should've had multiple version of their abilities like the old classes so they could divvy up their ability's strengths.
I just think in the future for these guys, they should have a long term plan put out for the buyers so that they know that effort will continue to be put into it. It's being sold as a full price online shooter now. A lot of these types of games tell you that there will be frequent updates, or expansions.
And @Boris I agree with you. I've stopped playing the game like 2 and a half weeks ago because the multiplayer is just not in a state in which I think is enjoyable. I don't like how far the zombie team has been pushing in Turf Wars, and I simply don't like spawning in with zombies 5 ft away just waiting for me to leave the spawn area to get gang killed. It happens on Moon Base Z, zombies coming all the way to the hill and it's not fun at all playing a game when you can't advance at all. Same with the Academy level. They push right up to the fence with those ridiculous auto shotgun scientists, and I simply can't burst damage like the zoologist or computer scientist. Or Electro Brainz shooting his beam into the spawn area killing everyone whose close to someone else. I don't like that at all.
