Direct X Issue

Purchased the game Plants vs Zombies tonight and created an Origin account.

Unfortunately I get an error message:

"Your computer does not meet the system requirements for playing this game.

ATI Radeon 3600 Series GPU does not support DirectX 10 which is required."

That is not correct.  The graphic card is the Radeon 3650 with the latest drivers, and it does support DirectX10.  In fact it's running DirectX11 with no errors.

System specs:

4GB Ram

AMD Dual core processor, 2.8 ghz

Windows 7, 64-bit

Radeon 3650, 1GB, 128-bit

Any insight?

Aw, that's too bad.  So close...

I glanced over the specs before purchasing but didn't know what exact graphic card was installed.  The computer is good quality but was a budget build for a kid's computer.  It plays the original Plants vs Zombies perfectly (heck, we play the original on a low-end Android tablet), and even more complex 3D games like Command and Conquer Generals and Renegade.

It's probably for the best anyway; I don't want the kids computer accessing the internet, which is required for the new PvZ game.

    Thanks for your time.

Just wanted to give a follow-up:  Origin refunded the total purchase price within minutes, no questions asked.

No further complaints or hard feelings on my part.  Thanks again.

Glad to hear back favorably.  May it go as well for any future exchanges!
