(Discussion) Is a "revival" of the Plants vs. Zombies series possible?
Hey all,
As of recent, Plants vs. Zombies has been seen as a series "fallen from grace". as the shooters remain alive but suffer from technical, cheating, and exploited issues, heroes remains but grows staler by the day, PvZ2 remains updated but only a handful of things every time, and PvZ3 in a questionable position at the moment. What remains for this series is a bundle of hope. That hope is for hoping that changes are made, games are fixed, and people having fun. As of recent, the only developments have been supposed progress on the ban exploit for the PC shooters, forwarding of a magnitude of ideas for shooter updates (although small, it could grow larger) and more notably, the new PvZ CM, Shepard.
I pass the question to you, ordinary PvZ players , seasoned and experienced PvZ extraordinaire, and even the CMs. Do you believe the series could be brought back to a 2014-2016 era of glory? As in, Shooters being updated/made, tower defense games being updated, and even heroes receiving balances and content updates. As evident by player charts, at least for PC, new players on PC have experienced a growth prior to the whole exploit situation.
There's a wide variety of suggestions I've heard from across the community. There include but are not limited to:
-PvZ1 Remastered - Better graphics to keep the old game's design, possibly new content, and exclusive features like a finished LImbo Page that is specifically bonus minigames.
-More worlds for PvZ2 - Although PvZ2 concluded with Modern Day, many people have suggested tens of different new worlds. From Chinese exclusive worlds like Steam Ages to new concept like Ancient Greece and even something as simple as the Jazz Age.
-Making PvZ3 a standalone game under a new name - Many people have said that PvZ 3 is NOT the tower defense games we know and love. It is suggested that the current PvZ3 could be made into something else like "PvZ: Rebuilding Neighborville".
-Making PvZ3 a combination of PvZ1 and PvZ2 - People have said that PvZ1 and PvZ2 are some of the title's best. So people have suggested making PvZ3 like it. Keeping all content from PvZ2 as in - plants, time travel, zombies, worlds, etc. And adding PvZ1 in the form of a better Zen Garden, minigames page, and even roof/pool levels.
-Readapting maintenance of Garden Warfare 2 - A very, VERY wide favorite among the community is to add back support for GW2. This is in the form of either small changes like town hall schedule adjustments, Rux changes, and seasonal events returning, to even ideas of new content updates, utilizing old GW1 maps in GW2, addition of promotional characters back, and several new characters.
-Creating a GW3 - Another very popular idea is to make a third Garden Warfare- series game. Many people were a fan of how GW1 and GW2 were built - Everyone could advance for free, hundreds of characters, thousands of customization combos/options, thousands of hours of fun. People have called for an idea to merge GW1 and GW2 together into a super-time travel type of game. Where you can travel to old maps like Crash Course, to "new" maps like Zomburbia, to even brand new maps created by the minds of people. Variants would also be a large addition, as there are still tens of even hundreds of other variant ideas that can be done. There have been tens of different "GW3 idea documents" and tens of different balance concepts done in the forms of mods. It is clear that there is a strong desire for more.
-Re-adding support for BFN - Alternatively, there are still hundreds of BFN enjoyers. They want new characters, modes, maps, abilities, etc. A current popular request is adding the Unicorn Stuffy hat back in.
-New Heroes updates - Several people have also wanted Heroes to update. People believe there's still a lot to be done Some people have even suggested Set 5 and Set 6 to add more content in the form of cards, heroes, gimmicks, and other concepts. Alternatively, there's a group of people who just want some balance changes.
Utlimately, it's up to the developers to fund and create these ideas. But now, I turn to the question to all of you - Do you believe that PvZ could return to just a glorious active lifestyle? What are some more ideas that the devs could do? Do you believe that the series is still a series full of potential and ideas?
